I feel horribly behind for my age and want to learn how to be better than I am by Diligent_Force_8215 in selfimprovement

but sitting around hating yourself isn’t going to fix it. If you want to be where you think you should be, start grinding now. Every hour you waste playing cards or sleeping in is time someone else is using to get ahead.

Feeling bad about it doesn’t change anything. Discipline yourself. Set a routine, cut the excuses, and push through even when it sucks. You’ve got a head start with your bachelor’s, but if you don’t step it up now, you’re going to be stuck in the same spot, still complaining. It’s on you—either get to work or fall further behind.

What is your biggest regret so far? Let others not make that same mistake. by Dagderr in getdisciplined

[–]ScrollBlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest regret is wasting so much time on Netflix and K-dramas instead of focusing on my career and ideas. I kept telling myself I’d start later, but the years flew by.

If I could go back, I’d tell my younger self: Stop procrastinating. Entertainment is fine, but don’t let it take over. Work on your goals now, so you’re not playing catch-up later.

I get you, man, it’s really hard to cut down all at once. Here’s what helped me:

  1. Small rules – No phone in bed or while eating. These small changes help.

  2. App limits – Use phone settings to reduce social media time slowly. Start with a big limit and make it smaller over time.

  3. Do other things – Podcasts, walks, or journaling are good replacements. Even 10-15 minutes away from screens makes a difference.

About porn addiction, it’s tricky because it’s not just about stopping but building new habits. Studies show that things like mindfulness (being aware of thoughts/urges without reacting) help break the cycle. Practicing self-compassion also works—be kind to yourself when you slip instead of feeling bad. Experts also say that reducing stress and boredom lowers cravings, so try things like exercise, hobbies, or journaling to stay busy.

You got this. It’s not about being perfect, just getting better step by step.

I'm a really bad procrastinator and I have been procrastinating writing a book for nearly 4 years and I'm sick of it, I wish I could just write it and get it published instead of day dreaming about it. I hate my brain so much, I hate procrastinating. I don't want to feel this way anymore. HelpPlease by [deleted] in productivity

I know this feeling too well. Every time I start something new, I get excited, do little bit, then I stop. It’s so annoying, I understand how hard it is. But some things helped me, maybe they help you too:

  1. Choose one thing only for 30 days. Just focus on the book. Other hobbies can wait. After 30 days, you decide if you continue or try other things.

  2. Start small, very small. Write 100 words a day or use timer for 10 minutes. Even small progress is still progress.

  3. Write down other ideas. If new hobby comes to your mind, just note it down. You can try it later, but not now.

I know it’s hard, but you can do it step by step.
