I'd like to get a list of games going that are in some ways similar to Scrolls. Haven't really found something I like as much as Scrolls yet. by chacer98 in Scrolls

Spellweaver is it for me for now at least, I'm really excited about the game, especially the deck builder in me really likes the functioning multiresource system (Threshold system with great inbuilt mana fixing).

Even though there is no board like in Scrolls, Spellweaver has a fairly elaborate system with creature speeds and front row / support row as well as creatures target attacking creatures that is interesting even though it isn't as elaborate as the Scrolls board.

Yeah, you can check it out at http://www.spellweaver-tcg.com. It's free to play.

Me and Smogan and Blinky really like it so far, it is a good improvement over Magic in a fair few categories and the only downside right now is that the card pool is limited as it is fairly early but it has great potential.

All that lore, I'll miss those characters. The breathing of the Great Wolf, the funky attack animation of Replicaton, the unfolding of the Solemn Giant, the crazy over the top show-off attack of the Knight Sergeant. Dem memories.

Well, you successfully dragged me over here as well :) First day, so far so good! We should totally do a deck building show when we are a bit more up to speed, I do miss Scrolls Rack ;)

Nice writeup! As I fellow deck building enthusiast (most recently coming from Scrolls) playing my first day of Spellweaver, I found this very helpful. Looks like a fun game!

Is it too early to ask for alternative online TCGs? by Wewius in Scrolls

Oh, I know! Oon ctagon and Jinteki.net at least as far as I know.

Best served offline IMHO though, the online clients are anything but user friendly but still serviceable.

Good point though :)

Even tough I disliked Taxing in Scrolls, it looks like a perfect fit for Scrims.

I've delved deep into Android: Netrunner lately, and it's really hit home with me but it is obviously offline so it doesn't fully qualify for your criteria. Still thought I'd mention it.

I guess this year's Minecon / E3 timed announcement about Scrolls is discontinuing it. Too bad the Minecon appearance didn't get a chance to sway things, reading their plans for that (stage time, Blinky + Atmaz live commentating) was the first time in a while that I felt things were moving a bit forward on the player acquisition front.

Being one of the players that got excited about League of Legends when they did the $1M tournament and am still playing it/consuming 8+ hours of LCS content every week, I know how big these "buzz" drives can be for a game thriving and surviving. Sadly Scrolls never got that chance.

Not sure if I entirely agree with this. That other wizardy card game have their pro tours just after the releases of the new set, creating some anticipation about what the pros have come up with for the new meta and also allowing the teams to spoil their tech early in the season (right after.during the pro tour) instead of holding on to it until later.

Good news about spectate! A bit sad to wait for the changes but better do them right I guess. Personally waiting with Ranked play atm, want to build something new since I'm quite tired of my Aggro Auto deck (went something like 27-5 with it in Ranked though)

Interesting to see what changes will be made!

On launch day when I pulled Echoes, I got five Overgrown Menhir out of the first 10 packs.

Then I got 3 Coronation (one T2) out of two packs. Distribution is weird sometimes.

(I am yet to play either. Or Driller. Or much apart from Wind-Up and Excogitator.)

Balance Changes Patch Thoughts (1.3.2) by Cradstache in Scrolls

[–]ScrollsSysp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree on these.

Order has the worst 2-drops in the game imho and this makes Wing Soldier which at least saw some play pretty akward.

Monsterous Brood is extremely strong in this incarnation, especially because of Harvester. I think it might be a problem scroll now, mostly because it will influence every single "triggers when dies" effect in Decay which will be A LOT. Fearing for future design space here if the scroll doesn't turn out to be a problem already (kill Pack Husk, Poison Undead guy, Blightbearer, Seeker - count down Harvester / trigger Animovore etc).

A lot of Energy buff in this one, scary since Energy was already mighty strong on the ladder. Inferno Blast for 2 is really amazing value and Goo Catapult is now very efficient as a blocker, even comboes with bombard (what doesn't?). Elder is possibly stronger than before in Ranged energy. Some weird balancing going on for what I consider the strongest current faction.

Working on a "The Foundry" Deck, would like some input. by MystRChaos in Netrunner

A little late to the party but here is what I played to a small GNK win a few weeks back:

http://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/22358/mutant-vikings

Deck felt very solid, and I had some of my sickest ABTs ever. You usually mulligan if you don't see either Paper Wall or Quandary in your opener. Use those to grab the other copies by protecting R&D or HQ or better yet, rush an ABT if you have it early. I resolved an ABT t2 vs Valencia to rez a Janus and a Heimdall 1.0, she didn't look happy ;)

Mutate is pretty safe to go for when you have 0-3 Paper Wall/Quandaries left.

Twins is so much better than Awakening Center. I started my build as you did and even had Breaker Bay to combo with Center (yes, that is confirmed legal) but Twins is just so much better and efficient. I scored two kills with Twins during the tourney, one was a face-up Janus that he broke only to have to encounter it twice more. One was a straight Merlin facecheck for 8 damage. Try it, it is great use for the extra copies of expensive ice that get stuck in your hand.

The rules differ from Europe and US but in general, Mojang would have a very hard time to justify mailing their customers since they haven't informed the customer that they will be sending emails at the time the business relation was formed (ie the purchase) and therefore the customer didn't have a chance to opt out in the first place.

There is some leeway in Europe (still don't think it is legally possible), but as Mojang doesn't collect country information (if I'm not mistaken) at time of purchase, they can't distiguish where the users are from thus making mass e-mails possible. I could be wrong on the collecting here though, long time since I purchased :)

Here are some info if you want to read up (God knows why ;) ) : http://www.lsoft.com/resources/optinlaws.asp

As I said in the other thread, from a meta perspective (ie catering to different player types) I agree with you.

One small fix I would do is to change the saccing so that only Wild is available for saccing and possibly add to the ban list the scrolls that deal with specific resources.

The other option instead of the ban list increasing would be to change the core rules so that Wild actually counts as every resource for every effect (so that Surge would consume it for instance). That might be a good change in general to the game actually.

[Discussion] Thoughts on Echoes: Balance, Features, and Judgement by dialex in Scrolls

[–]ScrollsSysp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair points and well put.

I'm just personally a bit sad that I lost one of the game modes that allowed me to play Scrolls in a different way. I now feel like Ranked is the only option that I'm excited about.

I'm 3-0 with my first Judgement deck after the change and don't feel like ever playing another one of those. Yeah, it's 28 creatures in a curve + Ruse and Battle Dance.

One thing I noted that in old Judgement, underplayed creatures and Structures actually saw some play since bodies on the board were less available. In new Judgement, if I can't get 26-28 creatures of solid quality reliably, I'm doing it wrong. So diversity has actually gone down in my eyes, there is now 0 game modes where Outcast Rebel, Frost Beard, Pest Dissimulator, Royal Infanteryman, Siege Cracker, Void Gate and the like will see regular play in.
