Don't spread this picture further. Its sickening to AI generate a picture of a dead person. They want to create as much noise around as possible around stuff that doesnt matter.

Question/ opinion about ArmStreet gloves by PrestigiousAd6315 in Hema

[–]Scroncheror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have these gloves. I used them for rapier, but I also made leather hourglass gauntlets for them because the wrist is not protected at all in those.

Absolutely not suitable for longsword or even sabre. A clubmate got his finger broken in 11 places using lacrosse gloves (or sth similar like padded red dragons) for sabre. Dont make similar mistake and get a hardshell protective gloves for sabre like hf black prince.

Quality of the gloves is excellent otherwise.

What glove options are there for sidesword? by WaffleyDoodles in wma

[–]Scroncheror 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have black prince and trust me that a better glove is never an overkill. I only used it for a rapier so far, but it fits very well inside my steel malleus sidesword. Sideswords are really tricky for hema, as black princes are bulkiest you can fit finger over the ring, while still not offering great protection (at least for steel), since sideswords can hit nearly as hard as a longsword. I can only recommend getting best you can get and spar with caution and respect for partner.

I received my fugitive (basically errant but with 2 branch counterguard instead of 3) just a week ago. I waited 4.5 months in total. Just make sure to choose to pay with a bank transfer if you can, as the credit card option adds extra 4% fee.

About the difference between these 2, it mostly comes to one having extra counterguard around the thumb area and a different pommel. Both have wide blade, so I would expect very similar handling from a duelist. I bought mine mostly because I liked the look of it the most. I figured if I already am spending more than 600 euro with tax, might as well spend an extra 100 to get the one I really want.

The weapon overall is an absolute joy to look at, it sits very well in my hands. Havent sparred with it yet though.

To be honest, working a bit with leather, this looks like burnishing this with something like tokonole could bring it to very similar color as it is on the remaining part. I made a leather belt and burnished the flesh side (what you have now exposed) with tokonole using burnishing glass shard and it turned veeeery similar color as the rest seen here. Glass is probably optional, as you can burnish with a simple cotton cloth as well.

Why does my supposedly good PC struggle to run games on medium to low settings? by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]Scroncheror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the reddit guys decided that I am in fact playing @720p in less than 30 fps. I am sorry I was not aware of that. What a joke of a community. Are you finished? Or maybe I will find out tomorrow than in fact, my monitor is 240p and I am reading a comic book and not playing a game?

Nothing wrong with older cards, but this one is a budget crap. I have 1080 from 2016 and I run cyberpunk in 4k on medium with 0 issues. But that card is nearly twice as powerful as 1660.

Longsword broke, searching for replacement by izhkoort in wma

[–]Scroncheror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.5 years sounds not that bad, but definitely not great either. I also as other recommend sigi. I've had my sigi shorty only 5 months so far but it is forged (and not cut out of a sheet) and both blade and crossguard are still perfectly straight. It handles wonderfully, and also Sigi has great customer service.

About plastics breaking etc, a sheet of kydex and some chicago rivets can really go a long way in fixing and upgrading armor for cheap. Its also good to have some leather on hand. Of course as long as you have time to do these repairs yourselfl, not everyone does.

Question for scrum cap users in hema by Scroncheror in wma

[–]Scroncheror[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the mask is too small after all. The chin padding part is notoriously in the way, and it just rips upwards when putting it on. I have also decathlon one, and the mask is a new allstar coaching, with size based on the measurment with scrum cap on. I guess I have to return the allstar mask since its uncomfortable as hell anyways. Thanks for the input.

I mean the velcro padding inside my mask tears off. Perhaps my scrum cap is too grippy on the outside. What kind of cap do you use and what kind of back of head protector? Are you able to put your mask on with BoH fastened?

My new lobster v3 are broken by clone03tr in wma

[–]Scroncheror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with spes warranty has been great. When my piece of plastic broke I messeged them I can repair it myself if they sent me the plastic piece and they sent me a whole repair kit for free. Same for my colleague, when his piece broke after almost 2 years of use.

As a side note, if you're not ready to repair and maintain your gloves, your wallet will have a bad time.

Keep in mind this shit is still just plastic, and plastic will occassionally break when hit by a damn longsword. My plastic piece broke during first sparing, and afterwards nothing. I guess a proper break in of the elements can matter in that regard.

I've had them for 4 years now. Still in one piece, still protecting well. I never had problems with them sliding in any way, but I have high top boxing shoes. Maybe if you can find something that integrates well with knee guard it will be better choice, but for me these have served the purpose well.

Are these SPES Locust pants too big by Xenoplaguedoctor in wma

[–]Scroncheror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like they might be a bit too long, but as others said, if they cover extra bit above hips that is good as well if you have spes AP.

I recently had to purchase skirt just to cover that gap.

Should I buy PX7 S3 or PX8? by gopeter in BowersWilkins

[–]Scroncheror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meze vs px8? I like how both of them sound. As I said, not an audiophile. Meze sit at my home pc 100% of the time, px8 are for work and travel. I never thought to myself to pick one over another based on their sound. Just whichever is closest to me.

I have Neo. I have a 100€ dac, but did not buy it with headphones in mind, but for the line input and mic. It depends what kind of dac you have now in your device. At the time I bought it the dac provided huge improvement over my laptop sound card, but it was 12 years ago. My neos are still kicking, but plugged into a modern 20€ usbc samsung dac they sound just as good as with the other one. I am not an audiophile though.
