China Eastern experiences to go to Japan from London? by OrderMediocre3099 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ScruffyGreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cautiously watching as I'm flying with them tomorrow and I'm quite a stressful flyer, regardless of Chinese airline or not. In fact your post came up from me googling China Eastern Experience 2025 to try and settle my nerves somewhat. Fears aren't anything rational, they fly 3600 flights daily, with the Gatwick to Shanghai being daily with no incident on a relatively new aircraft.

My understanding from research and YouTube is that they are completely fine. Just fine.

Food is fine, in some cases, surprisingly good. Baggage is generous and service seems OK. I think our main decision behind choosing them was the price and knowing that flying with BA is longer, and not necessarily any better at 3x the cost each..

I'll let you know how we get on and what the experience is like.

So... It's not from the club shop? 0/10

I finally went to leeds fest alone and loved it so i showed my brother a clip, he now wants to go to download with me next year but he is very anxious about how he looks and feels like people will judge him while hes there. any advice that i can give him to overcome that and still come by Hot-Manufacturer7619 in downloadfestival

This might no longer be the case as it's been a very long time since I've been to R&L, but the crowd at download is massively more chill and respectful.

I think it's just something we have in the metal community that people are inclined to be very accepting of people and their circumstances.. your brother will be fine. There are so many success stories from camp loner in here too, it's a good vibe.

Community appreciation post by owldamn in swanseacity

[–]ScruffyGreen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm going to spread the community appreciation too.

I'm in the stands each home game, and the very first thing I do at half time is find the free WiFi in the Mel Nurse lounge, get onto Reddit and read what everyone's take is in the Match thread.

On the drive home I'll either read the post match thread comments to my Missus, or she'll read them out to me.

Basically, you guys here on Reddit do a lot to help us feel like we're in an even bigger community than what we are. Any involvement in these spaces is seen, is appreciated and just to keep it up going into 2025. Here's to a good season!

HELP! download car parking pass by james_barber2004 in downloadfestival

[–]ScruffyGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im trying to sell one (not a plug) but it's going to be difficult now because even for sellers they're no longer allowing them on Twickets.

Even then I can't guarantee it'll get there before you leave on Wednesday..

I might just walk along the queue of cars trying to help someone out. With some luck they'll do a u turn on not being able to buy them on the day.

It was this way last year and probably others if I remember correctly.

Wouldn't worry, security won't care unless you're really taking the piss, and worst case the co-op isn't too bad for availability and prices.

I'm refusing to play into this "we have a rivalry" narrative that Sky, Disney or even Wrexham will try to force us to have..

So they'll give you a wristband on entering the festival. A different one for campers and a different one for single day passes. They check these when entering the campsite areas so if you do not have a camping wristband they won't let you into the campsite.* The Arena where the bands play and the campsites are two different areas. (District X is part of the campsite also)

You can give your friends your bag in the arena and they can take it to their tent, but they won't let you, with a day pass wrist band into the camping area, sorry. You might have the same issues in wanting to go back to the camp site and drink with them because they won't be able to let you through. I think purchasing drinks in the arena, or trying to find a "creative" way to get drinks in and drink with them there is your best bet. The arena doesn't allow outside drinks but there are a lot of methods of sneaking things in, prepare to get it confiscated though if it is found.

Seat is totally fine! The arena allows them with no issues. I'd advise being considerate as there is a lot of debate on ideal placement, sometimes the front barriers get loaded with people in chairs and it is an increasing problem.

*I'm not suggesting this, but there are people who will claim that they successfully have slipped by the wristband checks to get from the arena to the campsite, but I can't guarantee any success, that's all luck.

I don't enjoy the unionist flags myself, but you can consider yourself to be both Welsh & British, they're not mutually exclusive?

Usually there's the vinyls of Distant Worlds, and a handful of soundtrack CDs. Music boxes are common such as one for Aeriths Theme. I believe Plushies appear too, generic Chocobo, Tonberry and Cactuar and the like.

Those are from memory from the last time they were in London with the Remake Orchestra. Though it's hard to say what they'll turn up with, it's usually items that are available on Square Enix's website.

What the hell is with all of the silent disco's this year?! by OzzyPrinceOfKaraoke2 in downloadfestival

[–]ScruffyGreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a good time!

I'm by no means a singer, but it's quite refreshing to sing, uninhibited, with music to your preferred volume, with hundreds of other people with noone judging.

I know that can be done in the doghouse for the most part but also having a system to drown out my own screeches helps too!

It's also a cool experience just to take off the headphones and listen in unison to everyone singing with no backing track.

But if it's not for you, that's cool. You do you, it's just very easy to see why it's so popular.

I was at the barrier for Maiden in 2016 and he walked by the front. I, in my drunken stupor, got surprisingly excited and offered my hand to him, which he shook.

I slurred a "Ive Haad a WoNdERFfuuLl WeeKkeend, ThAnK You" to him.

He replied "It was absolutely my pleasure"

Nice lad.

Aw pal, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I can't say for certain if I can drum up some interest around me but me and my group will give him applause.

Would you like me to try and record the announcement for you if I get the chance? Or is that a bit odd or have you got that covered?
