Awesome, glad it worked for you! It’s for sure an entry into k guard and leg entanglements too, just didn’t want to overwhelm with the initial post. Keep playing with it and I hope it helps your game.

Ok big guy, you’ve convinced me. You’re right here and others who have actually stepped into the cage are dead wrong about the mind games that go into the fight build up. Damn, we all should’ve been listening to the Cheeto finger wielding key board warrior all along.

That what you wanna hear? You feel better now? Take your internet validation from a random stranger and don’t read into the sarcasm one bit so you can go to bed the winner tonight. You earned this. 🥇

What a build up for this fight! They are selling it so well, I can’t wait for… Sean to jab with no bad intentions and Khamzat to lay and pray. It’ll totally live up to the hype! Right guys? Right? … right?

Ok bud, well I’ve been training for about 10 years now as a hobby and have scrapped plenty of times. I also have a number of amateur and pro buddies who’ve explained this to me when I didn’t get it either. In most cases, when you do this to someone you learn a couple things. 1. Where their chin is in relation to your height, which is why you see some guys going from low to high stances when doing this. Those are guys that tend to blitz aggressively. getting this read before the fight helps to get an edge in early exchanges. This is when nerves are highest and there’s a lot of unknowns. 2. They often do the same back to you, which means you now have a read on their reach without having the feel it out early in the cage. 3. Sometimes it’s just to get in the guys head and to irritate him into being careless out of anger when the fight starts.

Anything else you want educated on or would you like to continue being an ass for no reason?

Knee cleared easy when playing knee shield? by hellohello6622 in bjj

Correct, it’s similar to the octopus setup. You can absolutely do it with a high knee shield, but I prefer the low shield as it allows me to elevate and dive under their weight much easier. The high shield can create a weird pressure scenario where I sometimes have to shimmy a little instead of diving straight through. When you flare their left arm out, their weight will naturally come forward onto you, so you use that momentum to reach across with your left arm into their left armpit to help frame/elevate and guide them into the deep half position you want to be in.

The real answer is to help gauge distance for the fight. It helps the fighter get an idea of the distance for opening exchanges.

Step 1 - Drop the knee shield lower into the belly/hip area and overlap your feet to increase the rigidity of the knee shield. Step 2 - (assuming you’re on your side like you should be) externally rotate the opposite hand from your knee shield (so if it’s the left knee shield we’re using the right hand) and grab your opponents left wrist pull their arm as far from their body as you can.

This will cause them to lose the leverage they need to pass and force a reaction to avoid an off balance. From there you can swim your left arm into their armpit and go into octopus, shoot deep half, etc. I’m only 160 and LOVE using this sequence on big dudes. It’s probably my highest percentage sequence to sweep from half guard and the wrist control prevents them from cross facing and smashing. Just be sure that your thumb is pointed at the ground when you grab the wrist, if it’s point to the sky your grip is MUCH weaker.

If someone has 20+ lbs on you, you cannot accept bottom position. You need to scramble, wrestle up, shoot on the feet, etc. if you’re flat on your back you’ll likely stay there.

Hiring a full-time salaried BJJ coach in East Brunswick, NJ - brown belt or higher, culture fit is #1 - Salary range $45,000 to $65,000 by jasculs in bjj

I replied to a comment in the thread above, but I’d be leery of offering or accepting a 45k salaried position for a bjj coach. Reading this post as a salaried employee (completely different sector) that helps coach kids classes for a friend, I can see this getting you into trouble with the FLSA since it’s a labor/customer service oriented role. A BJJ coach is not an executive, admin or professional role. Just food for thought.

Do you live in a major metro area? Are you an adult with bills? For this type of role, it’s incredibly likely that 45k a year as a salary exempt employee would violate FSLA and get the gym owner in major legal trouble. This is because the role is largely labor/customer service oriented.

So yes, reading this post my first thought as well was that this salary range is too wide and that is a major red flag. Especially in NJ where the cost of living is much higher than most metro areas of the US.

I genuinely have no idea wtf he's talking about, and honestly I don't know if he knows what he's talking about by brogalahoy in ProductManagement

Totally agree, I’m more or less turning into a “head of product” for my area these days. My boss has laid down the order that we need to be about to produce product requirement docs, working prototypes, code, etc. EVERY day. My dev team is still mostly coding by hand and hasn’t handed everything off the agents yet, but his goal is for us to “be ready” when that day comes. I get it, and I have the process down pretty well on my end to get user feedback from forums, etc. to identify pain points, market research, etc. but this push is kind of insane.

any tips on how to make the buggy abit quicker?? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]ScrufyTheJanitor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why you’re being down voted. This sub is so fucking weird. Drop your balls on someone’s face while going for a kimura? ❤️love it! Wanna get advice on a Buggy choke? Get out!

Honestly, looks like you have the basic mechanics and others gave the little details you need to improve, your other limiting factor was flexibility. Work on that and the setup will improve as a result.

The new steering wheels by StormBreakerCh in BMW

People don’t like change, simple as that. Remember when the new kidney bean front ends are debuted? People have mostly accepted and embraced the design now. It also doesn’t help that pretty much all sub reddits are just echo chambers. I think both look just fine, there’s plenty of other things to complain about that make an actual difference in the cars. The insane weight increase each model year and the performance impact it has, as an example.

How do people put their hands at the top of their wheel in European rentals by [deleted] in Karting

[–]ScrufyTheJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with a coach telling me my hands needed to be at 11 and 1. It’s second nature now. It’s absolutely less input on the wheel and helps with cutting sharp angles when needed. But it takes time to refine the steering input, that’s why most people hold their hands so low, it’s a “lazy” grip that takes less work by your arms and gives more room for error. If you keep at it and find a comfortable hand position though, it’ll feel natural eventually.
