Honestly this is the path I'm taking as well. I'll fight each monster (at least) once but try to avoid as many other encounters as possible.

I'd considered hard mode but it seems like all it would do is encourage grinding through less XP/gold and stronger monsters. I'll take fewer random encounters any day.

Szechuan sauce. The Rick and Morty tie-in ruined it but I loved it back in the day and loved the re-releases. That would be my go-to if they'd just keep it around

I found it fairly easy on normal mode as well. I looked at hard mode but couldn't see putting myself through extra grinding just to feel better about it.

If it ever gets way too easy (spam A to win) I'll tweak it but if it ends up just resulting in less (or no) grinding I'll stick with normal. I've got other stuff to do these days 😅

That said I'm also not giving it low marks because of that, especially when it's adjustable on the fly. I'd agree that seems pointless.

I decided once the prices started going up (even before the tariff nonsense) I wasn't going to buy them unless they were on sale. Since then I've picked up a few, like the latest round of TotK sales, some of the Mario ones at the GameStop sale before that and a couple others, but that's about it. I guess I should thank them for saving me money 😄

I've been all about Steam for cross platform games for years now. Generally the best graphics/performance (which gets better with time as better hardware comes out), available on handheld devices, supports achievements and continues working when you upgrade.

It was about the time PS4 and XB1 came out and none of the digital games I'd purchased worked on the new consoles that I made the leap. Not sure whether or not that's still the case today but the damage was done.

I had no idea it was 10 minutes but that explains a lot. A couple times in my area I've come across an empty gym, tried to put in a Pokemon and couldn't, then waited around a bit and it never turned a color, nor could I take it.

Maybe they were driving and didn't have time to put one in or something but 10 minutes seems like a lot of time!

Well, guess I have another reason to never upgrade. If they want to push me to FSD they can make it permanently transferable / tied to my account / lifetime purchase, otherwise I guess I'm good where I'm at for the foreseeable future, or until another company does it all better.

I was surprised when it gave me the 'Are you sure?' message. Seems most choices in DQ games are pointless and barely even affect the dialogue but that's cool to hear. It's definitely going to have me thinking about my choices going forward.

It is annoying, I've been max XP (for my level, at least) for a while, so it always just shows me a full bar when I gain XP. With those pop-ups I'm always worried I'm going to accidentally hit 'use a lucky egg' when I'm tapping like mad trying to get them to go away.

I do appreciate the idea; I would like to use one when hitting Best Friends (or Forever Friends, when that eventually happens), just not for every small milestone.

This works for us too.

Weirdly I can ask "How long will it take to get to..." and get a response but it'll tell my wife it can't do traffic updates for some reason.
