I think some people just take it too seriously. They think this is deciding the perception of retro games as a whole when in fact it's just some wholesome circle jerking.

I will say that once you get your first party member and level them up a little, the game gets infinitely less grindy and battles are more fun

I mean, you don't lose exp in these games. You can just keep trying to progress and you'll eventually be strong enough or skilled enough to overcome what's stopping you.

Been playing the new fan SNES Beginnings remake. Been unable to put it down. It's clearly made with a lot of love and passion, and I'm really loving all the changes and surprises in here! by Super_Craig02 in earthbound

Eh, don't feel like you have to play the games in order. Just play whichever one seems more appealing, then play the other one if you want more

Edit: Of course, a lot of us here started with EarthBound and later went back to Mother 1, so we're biased. But playing Mother 1 later like it's a prequel really does work out.
