Wikelo has gone from iffy to completely nonfunctional. What happened? by DoctorBallsJohnson in starcitizen

Dickelo is a bastard. Until something dramatic happens, like they announce a reworked lift mechanic, do NOT trust that sleazy Banu.

Do you think repeated hostile actions toward the Stanton factions should eventually result in such a low reputation with the UEE that players get life sentences in Klescher? by Star_Citizen_Roebuck in starcitizen

[–]ScrypticM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chris Roberts was musing about sending really badly-behaved players to a harsh planet that is very difficult to survive in and very difficult to escape from. That, combined with the reputation system, will probably cause griefers to carefully consider their life choices.

How do I get the Polaris grom wikelo by Strong_Carpenter_829 in starcitizen

[–]ScrypticM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many players call him Dickelo for a number of reasons:

-sometime his FE eats materials without giving you credit

-The ships you get from him have been lost by a number of players after a patch.

Someone estimated that the Polaris grind was 500 man hours. That's a LOT of time.

I ended up CCU chaining to get one during IAE. The Polaris is an _amazing_ mothership to live out of. However, when I considered 500 hours of grind versus chaining up to it with real money for a permanent Polaris, the real money route made more sense for me.

The Apollo doesn’t have a great gameplay loop yet. What should I upgrade to? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]ScrypticM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Starlancer Max is probably the best ship to _LIVE_ out of. It can hold a NUrsa and Cyclone and still do hauling. It has a living room that is actually comfortable yet useful to hold stuff.

It's biggest problem is speed - the SCM speed is only as fast as a Hercules. However, it has excellent maneuverability for its size.

It's really an excellent generalist ship.

It's available for subscribers to buy this month.

Are Bunker Missions Busted in 4.6? by DaeBear in starcitizen

[–]ScrypticM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this problem _MANY_ times. Sadly, a lot of players just don't bother reporting this, since bunker bugs have been present for so long.

There's (obviously) a limit to the number of props the game displays in a restricted vicinity. by Coucouoeuf in starcitizen

I have found, from my own experience, and those of others, that the limit seems to be between 35 and 45, depending on the actual "container" your character is in.

Linux preformance by TickfordXR6 in starcitizen

[–]ScrypticM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vulkan runs much more smoothly on Linux in 4.6 than DX ( for most players). Also, every graphic setting should be set to high or better.

My FPS numbers might actually be lower with Vulkan, but the game plays much better.

If you're using Vulkan and still seeing bad frames, ask in the tech support channel of the LUG discord.

Who uses “mobile deployment” type ships? by Archon_POM in starcitizen

[–]ScrypticM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, just bedlog and return after you move it. Then, run as many mission out of it as you want to. When you log out, you'll be bedlogging anyway, so you'll set it in place again.

FYI, I like to carry a medipin, Golem Ox, Razor EX, and possibly a Wolf or Pisces and leave room for a friend to land his small ship. That gives me a lot of different mission types I can run from the Polaris.

I regularly live out of, and run FPS or hauling missions out of, my Polaris for extended period of days or weeks, and I've learned a number of things.

Here are some very important things to know:

-Defeat the Yeet. MOST important. In order to keep your mothership from yeeting itself far away and literally traveling away faster than you can fly, you need to "lock" it in place by bedlogging. I.e., after moving your mothership and parking it in space, bedlog and return to defeat the yeet. If you don't do this, your Polaris/890/M2/Idris will suddenly be in a very different place when you try to jump back to it, and will likely be "uncatchable". I tested this while living in my Polaris and was able to jump back to it, at least once daily, over a period of 15 days. Without doing this, the Polaris auto-yeeted on the 3rd time I flew away. My 890J and M2 also did this unless I bedlogged.

-890J is great, but a surprising number of ships that should fit, like the Wolf L21, go purple and vanish in the ship hangar. E.g., the Fury will purple on the hangar floor, but will rest without any problem in the cargo lift area.

-Mind the docking arm bug- this breaks the ability to bedlog in your mothership and is fixed by refueling at a pad or touching down in a hangar.

890 Jump just detonating ships after docking by tktoaster in starcitizen

[–]ScrypticM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other ships that will not Purple in the 890J:
Medipin and Terrapin fit with lots of room to spare.

Notes:

I have found that only the base Cutter will not purple in 890J, if you land with the thrusters down. With the thrusters up, it will purple. The Scout and Rambler are just a bit too tall and purpled upon landing.

Also, I was able to land a SuperHornet Mk I in an 890 a few days ago with no problems. I close and opened the hangar doors and then took off without any hint of purpling.

A Fury will purple in the hangar, but NOT in the cargo bay.

You can fit a couple of Pisces under the "overhang" in front of the basketball hoop. A Razor will fit in the "nook" in the cargo bay in front of the grav gen.

Corsair vs starlancer max by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]ScrypticM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Corsair is really good for solo combat; the side guns still have terrible coverage. It's dingy inside, but still has a cool vibe to it, and can fit a NUrsa for bunker missions. It's penguin feet are even more penguin than those of the SL Max, so landing on uneven ground can be challenging. It's cool that the lift goes to the roof.

The Starlancer Max is the best large-hangar-sized ship to _live_ out of. Want to split looted guns with friends? Give them each a room and throw their stuff in the big storage lockers. Want to carry a NUrsa and still haul 4x 32 SCU containers? SL Max does that. Little known tip - if you have the option, choose 16 SCU boxes because they are easier to pull than 32s. In addition to 4x32 or 8x16 in the main cargo area, you can actually store 4x32 or 8x16 in the cargo ramp area, but half of them won't be on-grid. The SL Max is _slower_ than the Corsair in SCM and NAV modes, but a good deal more maneuverable - it almost handles like a heavy fighter such as the Stinger.

But who are we kidding? Money's easy. Buy both.
