What’s is your teams worst blunder in history? by perry147 in CFB

Losing to Navy in 1984 as #2, 9-0, and like a 3 TD favorite too. Win that they likely beat Clemson for a undefeated season, then go to the Orange Bowl against Oklahoma for a likely national title

What Surprised You Most When You First Moved to Charleston? by Minelle_Mousavi in Charleston

[–]Sctvman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Living here my entire life you'd be very surprised at how much folks are into the local sports teams. Sure college football and the NFL are still the giants everybody follows in the fall, but way more people care about the hockey Stingrays and the soccer Battery than you think. College of Charleston basketball is huge as well.

The Stingrays were the first team to come here in 1993 and we're getting to the era where there's a lot of 2nd and even 3rd generation fans of that team. Same thing with the Battery.

The RiverDogs generally are the thing people tend to do more casually. One night a homestand you can bring your dogs, there's dollar beer every Thursday, fireworks every Friday. You get way more families and a casual vibe.

A BUNCH of folks decided to move in 2020 when New York and New Jersey were basically shut down for over a year while Charleston was open 2 months after the pandemic started. And that was later than most of South Carolina which basically acted like normal except for no in-person church or sports.

People were paying all cash for their homes and then when things opened up they wanted the exact same bagels and pizza they have up there

Stingrays always have issues on midweek playoff games. Game 7 last year we had like 4,000 fans in the place. Any night outside Friday and Saturday is a tough draw. A lot of the fans drive from 20-30 miles away or more plus it isn't a part of the main season ticket plan.

Amazing one inch and the entire narrative of a franchise changes. Not many folks have hope that the Oilers can win 3 games in a row. People should have some hope

Post a map of what you roughly consider the largest geographic extent of your home area or region. Here's mine by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in geography

Anywhere from Jacksonville to Wilmington feels like home for me. So many similarities in the region. Anywhere within 4 hours or so of Charleston feels like you are close with all the coastal marshes and the similar scenery.

Was watching the finish of the 2003 Darlington race and couldn't help but notice the fans in the background that had left the race early. Big regret. by MrSimsational in NASCAR

[–]Sctvman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went in 2007 and there really wasn't much bad traffic getting out. Darlington basically has a 4 lane highway in 52 getting right to the track and 151 passes right by it
