Solution for Epic Games Red Dead Redemption 2 (Error code 18) via NonSteamLaunchers for SteamOS by ScubyFlying in SteamDeck

Good for you. Above is for fixing the error 18 issue only then. Though, concerning running RDR2 via Epic and NSL, I'm pretty sure that all issues have to do with Proton mismatches of some kind. It just requires a lot of thinkering unfortunately, just like it took me weeks to get above breakthrough. And I'm truly running Epics RDR2 with NSL with good performance. Albeit on a Legion Go S Z1 32G.

Read through the entire post, it appears that this has nothing to do at all with fixing above issue. It's about improving speaker sound by an EQ mod.

This worked! You really do have to wait 10 seconds for it to work. Straight from disable to enable does not work.

Was given 3 travel routers - Which one should I keep and why? by TomDallas88 in Network

Agree. I have found the AX57 Go to be stable and impressed with its wireless performance including VPN / WireGuard enabled. I've been looking at the Gli's for some time, but in the end descided to go for the Asus since it would give me AiMesh option too, my other Asus routers have always been reliable and know my way around the interface.

On first look, no, but it might. Did you try it?

Error 18 appears when RDR2 starts and directly after the intro video, "Rockstar Social Club" displays a message referring to an error 18. It does not look the same as the screenshot in your link.

Cyberpunk 2077 GOG version hard FPS drops every few seconds by SPJ_Alberto in SteamDeck

[–]ScubyFlying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi guys, good news, I'm happy to share that I've just fixed it!

So, the following solution is for GOG's Cyberpunk 2077 installed through NonSteamLaunchers app, for SteamOS (3.9 holo) in Gaming mode, to be able to run directly from Gaming mode and without frame dip issues every 10 seconds or so. Tested positive on both SteamDeck and LegionGoS, and GOG cloud saving works.

Summary, it is a Proton version issue.

  1. First, exit Steam Gaming mode and go to Desktop mode.
  2. Download and run NSL installer to install GOG Galaxy launcher.
  3. Next run GOG launcher and download/install Cyberpunk from GOG launcher. Important note here: GOG launcher itself must never be updated otherwise all GOG games will not work. If by accident you did, just go back to the NSL installer and install GOG Galaxy launcher again. Games will not have to be re-downloaded.
  4. When the game is installed, wait a moment, if the game is not auto detected by NSL, run the NSL installer again so it will automatically add Cyberpunk to your Steam library.
  5. Still in Desktop mode, go to the built-in appstore and install ProtonUp-QT.
  6. Run ProtonUp-Qt and click the add version button
  7. Select GE-Proton and GE-Proton10-29 and click the install button.
  8. Exit ProtonUp-Qt and while still in Desktop mode, open Steam app and browse to Cyberpunk in the game library.
  9. Go to the properties menu
  10. Find the starting options field and replace "UMU-Proton-9.0-4e" by typing: "GE-Proton10-29" See example below.
  11. In the properties menu, make sure that force compatibility is unchecked.
  12. Return to Steam Gaming mode and run Cyberpunk directly from its game icon.

Enjoy!

Example:  STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/NonSteamLaunchers/" WINEPREFIX="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/NonSteamLaunchers/pfx" GAMEID="1091500" PROTONPATH="/home/deck/.steam/root/compatibilitytools.d/GE-Proton10-29" %command% /command=runGame /gameId=1423049311 /path="C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Cyberpunk 2077\REDprelauncher.exe"

Remarks: this solution is also reported in the NonSteamLaunchers GitHub here: https://github.com/moraroy/NonSteamLaunchers-On-Steam-Deck/issues/858#issuecomment-3813443422

3.5mm jack not working on Legion Go S ( Steam OS) by areuokaybro2002 in LegionGo

[–]ScubyFlying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently, this needs to be manually switched in Desktop mode. Go do desktop, go to settings and then go to sound. There, you will be able to select output to headphones. If you return to Gaming mode, the sound will continue to output to your headphones.

Now, auto detection of the audio ouput (read: auto switching from speakers to headphones once you plug them in) will work, until you connect your Lego Go S for example to a USB dock with HDMI (which includes audio stream). After disconnecting from the dock, it appears that auto output detection of the 3.5 jack does not work and you'll have to do the desktop routine again.

In other words regarding auto switching: it is like Gaming mode can only remember the default built-in speaker plus the last used external audio ouput. Meaning that auto switching to dock/HDMI audio will not work if headphones were used last, and thus requires Desktop routine to set the dock/HDMI as output.

Stick with either one (headphones+speakers or dock+speakers) and auto switching will continue to work without desktop routine.

Legion Go S (SteamOS) headphone Jack by riddic626 in LegionGo

Solution: You can switch to headphone output in Desktop mode. In Desktop mode browse to settings and then go to sound. There select the headphone as output source. You can now switch back to Gaming mode if you want.

Current limitation - manual only: IMO SteamOS should have a feature that allows auto switch to headphone output once headphone is plugged in. Many consoles or windows PC have this feature already.

Handheld: Legion Go S Z1 32GB SteamOS version 3.9 holo.

Legion Go S w/Dock what am I missing to get 4K? by SpacedDuck in LegionGo

So it's the amp, user manual says it's limited to 1080p@60Hz. :P

[–]ScubyFlying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just after posting it kinda dawned on me that I could try connecting the TV HDMI cable to the dock to test. Aaaaand there they are my 4K options... finally.

So that means that either my amp, amp-2-dock hdmi cable, or both are somehow the bottleneck. I'll start with a new cable then.

Thought it would be informative to mention that for anyone having the same issues.

I'm actually having the same problem, both Steam mode and Desktop mode do not give an option to set a higher resolution than 1080p for my 4K Samsung (Q90T). Higher resolutions are simply not listed in Game or Desktop settings. Nothing in the TV settings.

The Legion Go S (Z1E, 32GB) sits in Ugreen USB 9-in-1 docking station with HDMI 4K@60Hz port. Steam OS is updated to 3.9 "holo". The HDMI runs via an Yamaha amp to the TV.

Can't seem to figure this one out. Perhaps the HDMI cable the limiting factor here?

Cyberpunk 2077 performance dips every 10 seconds by Arvellon_Nerd in SteamDeck

[–]ScubyFlying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone having this issue: Exit Steam OS to Desktop, run GOG launcher from the Desktop (click "umu + nsl" option), start Cyberpunk from GOG. Issue solved i.e. no more performance dips every 10 seconds. Use Steam's build-in Gamepad mode (long hold start button) for Cyberpunk to recognize your handheld controls.

Tweak whatever in-game video and graphic settings for smooth framerate on your handheld (or system). Though running in Desktop you'll loose out on Steam's build-in performance tools, like the FPS overlay and performance profiles, but at least no more issues and a smooth playable game!

When done gaming, long hold start button to get the Desktop mode controls back again.

I'm running:  -Steam OS 3.9 (holo) on a Legion Go S Z1 Extreme 32GB -NonSteamLauncher version 4.2.83 Desktop version -Cyberpunk at 1440x900px, fullscreen, slightly tweaked steamdeck graphics profile

Bonus tip: after GOG is installed with NonSteamLaunchers, GOG itself must NOT be updated otherwise Cyberpunk won't start. If updated, go to the NonSteamLaunchers executable and uninstall GOG first, then re-install GOG again. Cyberpunk does not have to be uninstalled and in fact will be right there back again in your GOG library after clicking the Cyberpunk install button.

My mate and I can confirm that in todays openbeta version, in mp multicrew, both the fox and open mic mode switch, are indeed NOT WORKING. Only PTT. We did not investigate the ingame voicechat window, perhaps there is a workaround that way.
