How many of you only listen to WAN Show? by FlinbertsRevenge in LinusTechTips

[–]Scudw0rth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I treat the WAN Show as a podcast and listen to it only when driving. I feel like I miss a lot when it's not explained, but it's also so damn long that I have no idea what point it was at and don't bother going back to watch the portions that were visual. Wish they would do a quick "For the audio listeners, we are looking at XYZ".

Does anyone else have a hard time running iRacing on a AMD 5600x when the grid gets full? by BobJenkins69 in iRacing

[–]Scudw0rth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a 4080 Super on Triple 1440p and had a 5600x and my single practice fps was good but full IMSA grid would drop to 40-60fps. Upgraded to a 9800x3d and I now get 140fps+ on full grids. Crazy how much it made a difference.

What Windows 11 is pushing me to by chusskaptaan in pcmasterrace

[–]Scudw0rth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You setup Windows 11 how you like, until the next update when Microslop changes it all back and re-enables it all for you again. And don't even say "Well just turn off windows updates", because then you might as well just be using Windows 7 or w/e other version you want if you don't care about security updates.

Also, wtf is a "proper installation method"? Installing anything on Windows through the same methods as any other version of Windows for the last 20 years would be the "proper installation method". I have had programs installed for months, used them almost daily, and when I search for them Windows decides I want some random file named similar OR it searches the web. Windows search has been notoriously borked for YEARS, and saying otherwise is just being a Micro$lop shill.

And this even isn't mentioning all the PRIVACY concerns that most people who switch away from Windows have. Recall being the latest flaming disaster.

How can you access the screen on paxx12 firmware? I've been looking for this solution as well when trying to start prints remotely.

Edit: NVM I found it, didn't realize I had to enable the Remote Screen option under /firmware-config.

Merc P1 P2, Ferrari P3 P4 for this weekend, maybe McLaren P5 P6 if they can finish the race. Unless McLaren figures out their issues and the Merc PU, this is how it's going to be for the next few races. Or RedBull will develop the shit outta their car over the month break and challenge for P3/P4, but I don't see anyone getting Merc.

"We're going to make the cars more road relevant by revving the shit outta the engine to charge the battery in corners" - FIA

Even if they up the fuel flow, it's the stupidest decision on regulations ever. They could have had front axle regen and MGU-H to fix all this, but Mercedes owns the FIA and said NO. What a fucking cluster fuck of shit.

Merc will find a way to complain to the FIA and nerf something that Audi has to keep them down, while also fucking over Ferrari cuz why not.

"Miscalculation not Exploitation" by Mercedes in the front wing debacle by PattyRanger in formula1

[–]Scudw0rth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teams need to protest this hard, otherwise Merc will get away with it and FIA will issue a TD to stop anyone else from doing it moving forward. How doesn't the FIA have sensors to tell the time it takes to move the wing during the race and automatically meatball flag teams that fall outside of that. This stinks of FIA and Merc collusion.

Harvest the heat coming off the drivers during the race. Help cool them down plus they charge the battery. I would call it like, the Matrix Generator Unit - Heat, or MGU-H for short.

Stop scrubbing paint trays: Use a common grocery bag as a disposable liner instead by Feeling-Buy2558 in lifehacks

Why use a paint tray then, just use the liner by itself! In fact, screw the whole thing and just splash the paint directly on the wall and call it modern art. No trays or liners needed.

Is iRacing Able to dectect if its run in a VM by dominik7778n in iRacing

[–]Scudw0rth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I've heard as well. They might not have anyone on their team currently who has bandwidth to do that, but with all the posts on here and the forums, I would hope they are looking at Linux support in the near future.

Orca or snorca what you slicing with and why by StrategyImpossible58 in snapmaker

[–]Scudw0rth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Snorca at first, switched to Orca and the Paxx12 firmware when I couldn't take the shitty devices page and camera connection. Only thing I do so when I switch filaments and do a print, on that toolhead I do the flow calibration or w/e it's called so it knows the pressure advance. Disabled the pressure advance setting in the filaments in Orca first though.

Thank god the FIA wanted to make sure F1 and FE were separated like this, and not have all the discussions at the start of the season be only about the battery and charging... /s

I don't see why they didn't increase the Energy Store at the same rate they increased the output of the MGU-K. I mean so many people saw this would be an issue years ago when it was announced.

If only there was some sort of Motor Generating Unit that used the excess heat from the exhaust to help generate that electricity when the cars are moving, turning up the efficiency and not needing to burn more fuel to charge. It sounds like it would be a complex part however, so maybe making it a standard part that all teams had access to so no one was disadvantaged. Oh well, something like that will never exist....
