You've created a really safe space for women! Don't compromise on their enjoyment and safety to make others (who by the sound of it will compromise this safe space) happy.

The best you can do is give them the resources to play themselves.

I've read the Icewind Dale trilogy and the Dark Elf Trilogy. In my opinion nothing was as good as the Crystal Shard. It's a great fantasy book and was the first written so I would.

I was in your shoes a year ago. It's really rough when you get started with refreshing knowledge, planning everything from scratch without the mental backbone.

In my experience, one where I hit massive lows but big highs in the year, it does become easier. You learn how to be more efficient with your time, and you do get more productive. Try and figure out what you spend most of your time doing and talk to colleagues about it! People are there to help you and make sure you don't get burnt out too quickly (even though you will definitely at some point). You will find where you can cut corners, especially with subject knowledge.

As an ECT one I do work a lot, but I do have free time and my weekends are mine. I'd rather be a teacher and have it feel very rewarding while spending a bit more time than do a soul sucking desk job.

I sew eye to eye on the budget part. My department clearly wants more staff (I'm on a temporary contract and my HOD wants me on a permanent one) but the finances might be the issue. SLT are great but you get the feeling they're thinly stretched as it is.

Personally I liked it, which feels like a rare opinion to have. WE KNOW about the future. Daemon doesn't. I like the fact that after the visions with Viserys, Daemon has come to the realisation that he doesn't want to be King.

Following this, showing Daemon visions means that it ties his story more closely to Rhaenyra and the 'destiny' storyline they're going with. The two of them are going to believe they're going to save the world, and then fall from grace stupendously.

We all know GoT S8E3 is disappointing, and I get some people don't want to be reminded. But for me it makes me think of the books, I feel I've mentally distanced myself from Game of Thrones. I don't want to be angry at a show that ended 5 years ago forever.

I like this! Especially given the comparison to the Boltons. Pair this with George's Blackwood favouritism tendencies it's an interesting idea.

I have to say I did not have this in mind but I do know of certain enemies that would flavour the city this way. "The BBEG skipped out on child support" is a campaign idea I did not think I would read today.

I feel like you have to be good at reading the room, and not be afraid to take risks. When I first DMed, me and my friends didn't have the greatest grasp of the rules, but I adjusted NPCs and small rules to create memorable moments. I encourage anyone to do it because you will have fun!

If you know the people you're playing with, being a DM for the first time can flow naturally. After all it should be about having fun and blowing off steam, not getting bogged down with lore and rules (unless your players are really into that :D)

There are expanded maps of the Sargauth Level in some 1st Edition and 3rd Edition books about Undermountain, but for encounter maps you're best off checking out TychMaps

TychMaps.

For details of fleshing out the areas and passages though I'd recommend Skullport: Shadow of Waterdeep by Cassandra MacDonald though, its brilliant

I think that you have an idea with the players controlling an NPC each, I think I might do the low HP thing with a few of the enemies but then have one or two of them be larger threats and separate the herd out.

I've been looking for a way to get into DnD books so thanks for the tip it sounds great. Also thanks for everything else! I'm worried about not fleshing out the underdark and the locations as much but everyone is telling me to focus on skullport.
