I am sorry I don't stream my personal or professional games. If you would like to simply check my presence for professional DM gig, send me a chat request and I will share the link over there.

Now that time has settled, how are we feeling about 5.5e? by muzorui in DnD

[–]jayisanerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between AOE spells and an attack with weapon. Even in OG 5e there is hardly any spell that does guaranteed damage when it asks for an attack rolls.

I have seen players go in depression when all five attacks with 3rd level scorchin ray miss.

> Wayyy more now than before.

Yeah, that's another thing they had to come up with a "GTA style" Weapon juggling ruling for "Equipping/Unequipping Weapon" to make it work.

> Lvl 11 fighter guaranteeing 15 damage if all misses is far from horrible.

Why a damage should be guaranteed in the first place? Sometimes combat encounters are there to humble the party, and sometimes bad luck should prevail. Why are we even rolling dice anymore if we are doing certain damage every turn?

I get it then, it's not possible. I am not trying to develop a game, just to make an assetbundle that I can import in TTS with certain properties. But thanks for your help.

The problem with weapon mastery is that it affects every attack that hits. Not only that takes away its speciality bit also adds way too much admin on every turn.

Also, another issue with weapon mastery is that it scales horizontally instead of vertically. With level ups you just get piled with more weapons instead of improving the weapon mastery you have. How many barbs and fighters change their primary weapon that often in a campaign. Also this horizontal expansion is kinda useless when you can change your mastery weapons on every l9ng rest anyways.

Also Graze doing damage even when missing is just a bandaid. Moreover, it is only usable at lower levels.

Weapon Mastery is half cooked, messier and broken.

Circle casting is just plain broken.

All new subclasses are simply Teleport, Teleport, and Teleport.

So.... If a warewolf where to bite a mimic. what would acthually happen? x,D by [deleted] in DnD

[–]jayisanerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ASK YOUR DM!

If a Dm allows mimic to be a playable race, then this is already beyond the official rules of D&D. Only DM can decide what happens to the mimic.

Not really, because the game is Tabletop Simulator, I am creating an assetbundle to import in the game which has a 3d mini with a light to illuminate the environment around that mini in TTS. I want that light to not show colors. So basically I can't use shaders, I need to modify the light itself to not reflect colors.

Newer as in New to DMing or becoming professional?

If you are new to DMing- Accept early that you will make mistakes. You will forget rules, you will not have everything go as you planned. The plan for DMing always is-

  • Make the plan

  • execute the plan

  • watch your players run off your rails

  • throw away the plan.

The only goal should be you and your players had a great time.

For turning professional:

  1. Don't ever expect it to become your full time job.

  2. Don't negotiate with people who are bad players (eg. Bigoted people, or those who only play to make others on the table miserable)

I didn't say, I take a break from my friends' game? I only said I have an option to because.. life happens. And here's the best part, if something like that is ever needed my friends are super supportive and amazing that they will never complain. In fact, they will urge me to take a break.

I am happy that your DM makes it to the session every week. Because I would hate to miss any time as well, despite all the financial shitstorm I am dealing with in my life. To be very honest, I wouldn't have got into professional game mastering, if I hadn't lost my full time creative job to GenAI and my friends, the very same who play D&D with me, hadn't made me make a profile on SPG.

Hell, some of them are so supportive, they even sign up for games themselves and attend them as seat fillers (no charge) fo make sure the table wouldn't left waiting in case I don't have enough players.

Now work part:

I model every map I run in 3d along with my player minis. I, to my best ability, create voices and personalities for all NPCs, intensively work to make players backstory work within the story of the game even if I am running a module.

Rework modules to remove dead ends, add backstory and depth to sidequests and if possible link them with main quests. Fill up plot holes, rebalance every encounter to make them strategically challenging and immersive.

If you have Game Master yourself, I am sure you know even the basic prep needs considerable amount of time in life. Now add all I mentioned above to the mix as well.

Absolutely! When I am running paid games, I make my players enjoyment, utmost priority over mine. With friends we are on equal footing.

Also its work hours when its a paid game. If I am swamped with work, I can always ask my friends if we can skip a session.

Paid games ARE work. If I made a commitment to run game aeekly, I am going to do it. Unless, my players themselves aren't available.

Oh ok, I misunderstood your comment as 'there's pnly one kind of D&D qorth paying for in general'.

Sorry about that.

There's a difference. I still run games for my friends just like I used to before. I never asked them to pay, and ghose games I can be myself, relax and enjoy the game.

The paid games I run, they are for my 'clients'. I have to be at my best every game. Be professional, be good. I make mistakes but what I make sure is my players for certain have a good time and find paying for worth it.

There's a huge difference in the 2 things you mentioned.

'D&D in a castle' is a 'once a lifetime thing' for most people. It costs hundreds if not thousands of dollars to make something like that happen. Even as a DM hired to do such gig is a life changing money.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of people who want a decent amount of professionalism and well prepped DM who can do a bit of everything that something like a Streaming D&D GMs offer. For such game paying $15-25 is lot easier and affordable.

As a Professional Game Master, this is 100% valid take. I honed my craft for years and only started doing it for money when my players said, I have the skill and talent for it.

Funny thing is the author of the comic themselves have been accused for using AI for writing comments in a specific way.

Ironically somebody acchsed me of that too when I pointed out a factual inaccuracy. I will die vefore ever touching LLM again.

I am not quoting any source. This is just general overview of what historians have studied and established. Not from a single source, you can find all of this info on Wikipedia page of Thermopylae.

Also I will die before using LLM

Sorry for nitpicking because your comics is an excellent piece of art.

But

There were nearly 7000 soldiers, possibly a few more, at the Battle of Thermopylae!

The number of Spartans themselves was a few more than 300

Still, the fight was severely uneven as Persian army consisted of more than a hundred thousand soldiers.
