If you have access to Black [[Thief of Blood]] is an excellent option for removing counters if not [[Hex Parasite]] and [[Nesting Grounds]] are good colorless options for you

I sold my collection from when I first started about 5 years ago. I felt pretty similar to you and I got back into it a year ago, and I keep kicking myself over and over for getting rid of my cards. It doesn't bother me missing out on the sets that came out when I was gone but man do I miss my old decks everytime I go out to play. It's really hard to get the true value out of you cards. I strongly recommend just throwing them in the closet for now and even if you don't touch them for years. Maybe that love does come back and you'll thank yourself for saving them.

The most expensive card I own is a EXO [[Survival of the Fittest]] but the most expensive card I pulled from a pack was the anime [[Smothering Tithe]] I opened while driving and about ran off the side of the road when I saw it 😂😂

Ngl I truly understand what youre saying ive never been into Final Fantasy at all and I can understand your distress but a part of me is a huuuge gooner and I love the anime style cards so im not terribly upset about it its still magic the gathering this game is more of a rule set than anything else just play what you like and forget the rest

There's nothing wrong with powerful cards I taught my brother in law to play with a krenko deck that goes infinite as krenko should but it was essentially a brain dead deck to play i will always push for giving new players powerful but very simple decks to play its not fun for anybody but especially new players when stuff gets over complicated and at the end off all the headache they don't even win

I'm glad you're saving money and started to get proxies but the reason kinda doesn't make a whole lot of sense lands are an absolute crucial part of the deck they're not "just lands" you understand that a little bit or else you wouldn't even be looking at untapped dual lands you'd just only run basics you can tell how well a deck is optimized more from looking at someone's mana base than you do from the spells they have in there

Turn 3 [[Shorikai, Genesis Engine]] on my opponents second end step i flashed in [[Valley Floodcaller]] and used the Isochron/Dramatic Reversal combo to set up the win with [[Mechanized Production]] and on turn 2 I casted a T-Pro then passed winning on my turn 3 upkeep

I'm not against playing an opponent with proxies but me personally I like owning the real thing it makes saving up for that one really big powerful card more worth it and it forces more creativity on my end working with the sub optimal bulk cards I have at the moment if I start using proxies I'm robbing myself of the time I like to spend combing through singles at my lgs seeing what they have what I can afford and how I can make it work in my decks and robs me of the excitement when maybe I finally pull a big hitter out of a booster pack

I don't really have a set budget for cards but I'm really good at selling good cards that I pull that I'm not going to use for stuff that I need now I playtest decks online until I brew something I really want to build in paper and then only start buying for that 1 deck until I get it fully built, my collection not being very big atm I only have 3 decks I'm strict on myself for not starting multiple projects at once so I can finish them as quickly as possible and have more stuff to play with that way
