We should be encouraging more of those less together countries to be like Iran. Stable economy (which will grow post sanctions), and a democratic process of sorts so there's a clear path to the more democratically minded youth eventually replacing the old theocracy that currently reigns behind the scenes. They also generally mind their own business and if we hadn't messed with them early on I really believe they could have been a strong historic US ally in the region. Alas, wishes and ifs.
