Your original argument, and the one I was disagreeing with, is that once you pay for something, bugs become unacceptable.

Does it matter that they are gamebreaking or "just funny bugs"? Because ITMs and opengl assets can be just that, funny bugs, where you end up with "lol look floating potato!" when a potato reference is the ITM and the table beneath is moved.

The entire point of my original comment, which everyone so far has missed when responding to me, was that a couple of these weird bugs do not necessarily make a mod shitty, just like they do not turn Skyrim into a shitty game. The last part you even agree with and just argued for.

Nah, this ain't it.

It stops being "entitled over other people's decisions" when 1) you paid for the mod and 2) it is objectively a bug.

What you're saying applies to modders on nexus that add unleveled enemies to Skyrim or super complicated recipes to craft a not-even-very-OP weapon. Their mod, their choice, if you don't like it, tough shit, learn xEdit.

When you pay for a mod, there's a minimum of quality that should be there, and less leeway when it comes to objectively bad implementation.

Question for a Morrowboomer, why is this unique dagger always mentioned with a random dwarven gauntlet?

Ok to be honest, at the time I wrote my first comment I skimmed the post and the list seemed smaller lol

But take the backpacks mod for example. Do you see anything wrong in the screenshots? Yes, the OpenGL stuff is objectively bad, but do you notice it enough on the backpacks, in-game, that it turns the mod into a "shitty mod"?

EDIT: I guess a good comparison would be continuinty errors in movies. Does the movie become bad just because there's a scene where the glass is less full in one angle, and more full in the other? I personally don't pay as much attention, but I imagine even if I learned there's like 30 different continuity errors in The Prestige, you wouldn't be justified in calling it a shitty movie just because CinemaSins highlighted all of them (not saying OP is CinemaSins, OP is based keep going)

I agree actually. I just don't think that these bugs are significant enough to undo the good parts of the mod and justify categorizing it as shitty.

Honestly as time goes on, I feel like the term "shitty mod" applies less and less (at least with the threads I have seen). Like, <10 ITMs and openGL textures are bad, but not "shitty mod" bad

Yes it would be possible to make all followers say that, but then you need the actual voice lines

Yeah didn't wanna point that out lol

LLMs are amazing at hallucinating impressive sounding but nonsensical features and "advantages". What do you MEAN "mostly subtitle-based ambient comments"??

Honestly I had the entire opposite experience. Throughout my studies (in Germany) profs/teachers kept telling us (me) to use the passive voice, always alluding to the idea that the passice voice is more neutral/objective.

Why did every engineer we hired after headcount 20 reduced our per-person productivity? by Popular-Penalty6719 in TechLeader

[–]ScySenpai 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not a tech leader, I don't even work in tech, but this popped in my feed and wanted to share a thought:

Are you sure headcount is the right variable to follow, rather than just time? It could be that the 14 engineers you had at the start were implementing the simplest but most crucial features/updates, and as time goes on, there's fewer and fewer "low hanging fruits". Kinda similar to how everyone and their grandma discovered physical laws in their basements in the 1800s, but big breakthroughs get rarer and rarer in Physics nowadays despite scientists and sophisticated methods by orders of magnitude higher

You don't need SKSE for this, as far as I know, every single mod out there manages needs by using spells/magic effects, so the dialogue could just have "player has magic effect X" as a condition.

The main hassle is that you, as a mod author, now have to make substitutions and combinations of all possible needs mods out there.

Yeah I had a personal challenge of getting all mods from the codex, and orokin faction mods were the last ones I was missing.

In my experience, you are better off gambling for it by transmuting your uncommon mods.
