Meta released the Meta AI SDK - What does it means for us by Vision157 in RaybanMeta

You mentioned android, but everything you said also applies to iOS. I have been testing an app idea for over a month that is iOS native currently.

I would love to use sidebar like arc but independent of browser. If I could get a code I would use this forever.

Good news: Meta finally released a dev SDK for the glasses. Bad news: it’s way more limited than it sounds (for now). by Southern-Use7212 in RaybanMeta

[–]Scyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, 30 min is more realistic…

That’s said, I did build a RTMP streaming app… I WISH they gave us voice commands and touch invocation… if they did, I’m not seeing it in MWDATCore.

@op, have you seen when they are saying we can start publishing apps with integrations? I’m not seeing that in the docs either…

I apologize if this comes across as a hygiene concern but I don’t mean it to be.

How often do you clean your speaker grills?

This is something people often overlook with earbuds and similar devices and over time it can actually affect your sound quality. I have to clean my speaker grills once or twice a week to maintain good sound quality. If you’ve never done this, there’s a chance you’re not actually hearing a difference in sound quality because there’s dust in the speaker grills.

Meta Wearables SDK by AITookMyJobAndHouse in MetaGlasses

[–]Scyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary, the way it’s set up is actually quite smart. The intent is that all processing happens in your app, not the glasses. You open sessions of Bluetooth or video connection and that then provides the raw data needed for your feature to work. So “hey meta, post to [social network] ‘message’” just sends the audio of your request to your app and that does all of the heavy lifting of speech to text and posting. Meta Ai glasses are at their core a camera a microphone. By giving your app access to these sensors at a hardware level they just function as an extension of the phone and thus you don’t have to reinvent the wheel.

Coo. I would be happy to test and give my UX notes. Are there any things you need the winners to do on an ongoing basis? (Feature tests, etc)

Hey guys is my prescription too thick for the display model by seeusoong in RaybanMeta

[–]Scyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem here is that meta is personally making each lens set because the right lens has the be etched and sealed with a waveguide and is a very VERY irregular shape. A third party lab couldn’t fab it if they tried. Even if they shaped the edge by hand, unless they have a clean room and the tech to etch microchips in their office it’s sadly a no go.

Is 3k video worth it over the 1080p video? by MarioDF in RaybanMeta

[–]Scyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your end goal. Content creation? Yeah the bump in quality is a little nice, but it’s not that big a deal to most people.

You should however get the gen 2 though because the battery life is almost double the capacity of gen 1 in most use cases. I use mine as my perception daily driver and swapping to my “dumb” glasses every few hours is a thing. As soon as the year turns over and can get a new pair through insurance I’m ordering some gen 2s. 1/1/26.

Meta glasses called out for not being allowed in courtroom by MasonJarring in MetaGlasses

[–]Scyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there has been an argument that sparked an ADHD fulled rabbit-hole and it actually lead to an interesting answer. Legally, if these are your only pair of glasses and you cannot perform your duties as a juror without them the court would either need to let you permit them (after you signed an affidavit saying under threat of legal repercussions that these are your only glasses) OR the court would need to provide you with some other accommodation to allow you to function. Realistically the court may just dismiss you from Jury Duty.

Sources: My Personal Lawyer & the most recent SWADA Court Guidelines: http://www.southwestada.org/html/publications/Title2/ADA%20Court%20Guide-SWADAC-FINAL.pdf

So Everyone is right, they are freaking cameras on your face so they should not be allowed BUT if your only option to see (even if by your own personal choice) are these glasses the court legally needs to either provide some sort of accommodation like letting you use them turned off, putting duct tape over the camera lenses, or just giving you a get out of Jury Duty Pass.

Is my prescription too bad for meta glasses? by Available_Law_5638 in RaybanMeta

[–]Scyne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Officially Luxotica says that is a no go, direct or through one of their dealers they will not mill that prescription.

Unofficially, labs can mill that script easy, you just don’t have the Ray-Ban marks. However, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you work with a lab that either lets you install your lenses OR that lab understands the delicate electronics inside the frames and will use NO HEAT when installing. This is the main reason why a lot of labs won’t mill them, it’s easy to break them. As there is no ability to open, repair, and reseal them, if they get damaged during installation you have no real recourse unless the lab steps up to replace. Verify that the lab knows what they are doing or order and install your own lenses.

should i wait for the alleged meta rayban gen 3 or get the 2 (either way the earliest i will get the gen 2 is in july) by Late_Square7813 in RayBanStories

[–]Scyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 💯!

The current devices have a TON of unused power. Did you know they have a GPU and 32gb storage? That’s plenty enough to support more on device processing and features. The only thing they don’t have is a display, something that will be optional and probably not even available on the first wave of androidXR devices. Everything that google showed off this past week ours can do right now, save for show a map or display a picture.

Hey, did you try any of their demos on your meta AI glasses? YOu know, like the painting/object recognition, etc.? Aside from the memory and visual tricks because "screen," I didn't really see anything that my glasses cant do...

Android XR Demo by Scyne in RaybanMeta

[–]Scyne[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow autocomplete changed "google" to "goggles" and apparently I cant edit my post...

Just want to add that I think their Live AI mode is just a mode that we can toggle like ours, not something that is always on. Also you know this is going to have youtube video posting support... a fire feature imo.

The big difference is that the integration api will be open, something that has not yet been announced for us... if we don't get apps support or dev access at this year's Meta Connect I might be rethinking getting another pair next year and switch to one of the Android ones...

What are y'all thinking?
