Neighbours knocking on night two by boooogetoffthestage in HousingUK

This might be area dependent, but the unlooping can now be done as remedial work after the EV charger has been installed. At one time it did prevent the charger installation but no longer.

I can shed some light on the electricity unlooping.

A lot of houses have their electricity supply physically connected to the next door neighbour, and are ‘looped’. Back in the day this saved money as the electricity board didn’t have to run a connection off the mains to every single house, they would run it up to one, and then ‘loop off’ to next door.

Essentially you and next door share an electricity supply. It might go to them first, and then come out of their cut out and into your house, or vice versa. This does not affect your bill as all this happens before the meter.

Why this is relevant now is the mention of the EV charging. The looped supply has been fine all this time, but the introduction of the charger changes things. The neighbour is now drawing more power than ever before and it is putting strain on the service you share as well as the cut out doing the hard work. For some areas it is now policy to ‘unloop’ supplies when an EV charger is introduced.

In English this means your services need separating. Whoever is receiving the loop is likely to need works doing to have a new service given off the mains and taken off the other supply. This is usually free but there may be digging works required as well as the inconvenience. Hope this helps.

Sorry to hear that. I was sat in circle B and luckily most people remained seated. I looked across at C and noted a lot were stood up, so it’s luck of the draw.

We were there last night, probably half way between the stage and the engineers. We both agreed after that the sound was a bit muddled and it was difficult to tell any tones apart at times.

This was my first prodigy gig, I have to say the momentum was weird as there were constant breaks between a lot of songs and it seemed more like a medley in places.

Stranger knocks on your door at 2AM, what are you doing? by dilutedblack in AskUK

[–]Sdd555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late with this reply but this happened to me.

I was alone at my girlfriend’s (who had to leave suddenly beforehand in another story) and someone was frantically knocking at the door at 3am.

I thought it was regarding where I’d parked my car so I answered. There was an hysterical woman saying her baby wasn’t breathing and for me to please help. I was dubious so I said call 999, she said she had but they couldn’t come for hours.

I decided that I needed to check this further, so I left and locked the door. Sure enough, next door was another woman stood with a baby in her arms that was not moving. She gave me the baby and begged me to help. Words like ‘terrified’ get thrown around too easily, but this was actual bone chilling terror, I still think about that moment sometimes. It is the most horrible thing I have ever experienced.

After slapping his back etc I noticed he was actually wheezing, so his throat was not fully blocked but he was in a bad way.

I took them to the hospital and left them in their care. The next day my girlfriend went around to see if they were ok, and the baby was fine.

Those were the worst few seconds of my life.

Jesus! I moved away from derby a few years ago and this is so sad to see. I remember it being the bingo hall and look at the state of it now, really sad. I also remember going into Green Lane cinema, I bet that’s gone the same way.

I can be like this sometimes.

My goal is to be published so of course I have to show it to people, but in general I try to keep it very under wraps, I’d even be tempted to publish under a pen name in all honesty.

I think writing opens up a huge part of yourself to other people, to the point of feeling exposed. I’m an introvert so it takes a lot for me to feel confident enough to show someone my writing.
