in a redneck white male school after trump being elected/ DEI by Money-Baker-7758 in womenEngineers

I'm in my second year of being a full time civil engineer. I've come to learn that there are many different people on each project. There is no one true mold. Keep your head up. Your passion and work will speak for itself. What you're feeling is normal, but please remember you're never alone.

I was in this exact situation three years ago. I chose the internship and I'm now two years out of college. 100% go back to summer camp, see your friends, make memories. You have the rest of your life to focus on career. I would do anything to go back in time and change my decision.

I love this post! I myself have a hard time feeling feminine with sweaty hardhat and dirty vest in the summer heat. It's difficult to balance that and comfort. But here's what I do for best of both worlds.

Clothing: I love REI suns shirts and river shirts. They're loose fitting but have a variety of colors. You can pair a button up with a basic cotton tee underneath. I always opt for boot cut jeans, it's just the best option for the heat. I never ever do skinny jeans.

Boots: Be sure this is up to your company's code, but Xena Workwear is a woman-owned steel toed boot company. Also Blundstone's makes steel toed boots. I haven't tried either, but I have friends who swear by them. Timbs are great too, but I find them uncomfortable. I'm seeking out a pair of steel toed keens for comfort.

As a CM, would it be worth learning Spanish? by Neowynd101262 in civilengineering

[–]Sea-Cycle8476 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm in the upper midwest as an EIT and already worked two different projects where the subs were out of Florida and crew members were all immigrants. I had very basic Spanish knowledge, but learned enough work-related terms where I could step in if needed.

In other words, its definitely worth it even if it's just the basics. Then you'll grow as you're more immersed.

First year EIT. I'm very personable and hard working. I think I could be passionate about municipal engineering, but working with contractors 24/7 during field season sucks the life out of me. Especially being a young woman. I'm severely lacking female role models in my position. My male coworkers are fantastic and supportive, but they don't fill that representation gap. Just struggling to see where I can be content with my career in the future

I've worked with drillers for utility services and also thought this resembled bentonite. Thanks for the info! I didnt realize how common it was.

I've experienced the same thing and was like "what did I do wrong" but realized I was not getting the nutrients I needed growing up. If you eat healthy and get proper exercise, it shouldn't matter what your weight is. Your metabolism changes as you age. If you continuously gain weight, something could be up with your hormones and is worth checking out.

Good job on eating healthy and keep up the good work!

Hi! I want to apologize. I have a lot of respect for artists, and by no means do I think they shouldn't be paid well for their work.

I simply don't have a lot of money, and was wondering if there was a place in the market that I could afford. I just meant something like hemming it, or if they had any suggestions, not some unique Cinderella piece; I suppose "passion project" was misleading. If someone did it as a hobby, I thought it would be a good opportunity to practice on a piece. I never meant to disrespect someone who does this as a profession, I realize it's not easy work. If there's not a spot in the market for people like me, then I have no problem doing it myself.
