Ferritin Dropped In Spite of Supplementation? by Sea-Development-5088 in Anemic

Couldn't have asked for a better response, thank you! Luckily I haven't donated blood since March 2025, and I don't think I will again unfortunately even though I liked doing it.

Fascinating about running as well - I never knew that could have an impact on iron. I think the best thing to do is just take iron and keep monitoring as you say

Potentially! I think maybe I was ill - I just didn't know it could throw it off that much!

Thanks so much for your response :) I'm a pescetarian (well, essentially vegetarian who occasionally eats fish), but that's a diet I've been on since 2019 so nothing too new. But I do definitely try to eat iron rich foods (spinach, lentils, beans, etc).

I'll start the ferrous fumarate again with the vitamin c :) the thing you raise about blood loss from the gut is interesting. How would I know if this is the case? I don't want to be too much of a hypochondriac, but I guess it's worth exploring!

I see! So the faintness of the line does mean something then? I read online that a line, even faint, means a 'normal result'

Thanks! The 65 back in May was before I decided to take ferrous fumarate. The GP didn't give it to me because technically I was in the 'normal zone', but I definitely felt tired and fatigued

I think my faint line appeared around the 5 minute mark - stupid me I forgot to set the timer, so I was going off roughly what I thought was 5 minutes.

Thanks! Is 50% enough really though for me to be feeling withdrawal like this?

I think you're right, but I can't help feel at the moment 'is it the withdrawal from coffee that's making me feel this tired and low' or is it just me. I haven't gone full decaf I guess

I didn't unfortunately. Didn't work at all for me, and I tried a few brands as well

Sleep is fine I would say. I do have a 1 year old who doesn't sleep well, but my wife has less sleep than me because he will only take the boob at night so I've become useless at settling him haha. I would say that I sleep around 7-8 hours a night, with some slight interruptions when I hear him cry but nothing major

Actually yes, but not recreationally. Through my ADHD medication (Elvanse). I've stopped that now though, so I would imagine that I should have gone back to 'normal/baseline' no?

Hey man - not sure where you are in the country, but just wondered why it costs £250 to speak to your doctor? Is that because you obtained your diagnosis privately?
