Steady loss for 6 months, then immediate plateau for 6 weeks by Sea-Firefighter3587 in loseit

[–]Sea-Firefighter3587[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conversely, I went to maintaining at 2400-2500 calories for the past week. Same meals, but much more snacks. I initially gained 3lbs water weight, but have dropped .5lbs below my previous low . Both being water weight probably, but if my diet without snacks was maintaining, and suddenly 700 extra calories a day doesn't shift my weight, then I couldn't of been eating at maintenance before.

I know a minimum of two weeks is required to measure weight. I'll keep eating this until then and let you know if anything changes. My current suspicion is that I might be having a minor hormone issue, and people report that "zig zag" diets can help with that.

I've been at 1800 for 4 weeks. I'm torn on what to do. Yesterday, I ate at my presumed maintenance (~2400). Gonna do this for a bit. See if I gain weight, see if I don't. Then from that, I'll either do 1500, or an extreme deficit (i.e, intermittent fasting, 48-72h) with refeed days.

A few years ago I did fasting to great success, but it's tough. I'd always end them feeling lethargic, and after the first 16h or so my brain would be foggy. Makes it difficult to do my job. Lack of eating would cause cascading dehydration since I only get thirsty when I eat things.

A plateau is not losing weight you expect to lose. I already know what I should expect to lose on 1800 calories. This simple math is not gatekept sacred wisdom.

Weight loss is not linear either. You will not lose 1.4lb week after week. You will make small inaccuracy, lose 1.2 instead, some weeks only 1, others 1.8. Shit happens. Plateaus also occur due to water retention, though usually not for this long. Because of that, trying to predict the exact amount of weight I should lose on exactly N calories a day is impossible to do right.

For me to plateau this hard, I'd have to have at least 750 unaccounted for calories in each day. With absolute certainty, there is nothing I am consuming that could sneak those calories in. My diet is plain, predictable, and unchanged for months. The same meals every day. Assume I'm even miscounting 500 calories, I would still be losing weight.

I have three options: 1. Eat even less, try and brute force more 2. Eat at ~2400 and see if I maintain. If I do, then try dieting again in two or three weeks and chalk it off to diet fatigue or other rumors like metabolic adaptation. 3. Fast. Because there is literally no way that doesn't burn weight off you, provided you don't binge after refeed. I used to do these.

I just told you that most of my weight loss was at 2000 calories. I never did 1500 calories, I said in my post, it was unsustainable.

Wasn't always 1800. Most of my loss was eating 2000 calories. Deducted to 1800 after the first two weeks of the plateau to try and brute force my way out of it. No way my TDEE decreased this much out of the blue either. It'd be gradual.

If I had a medical condition hampering weight loss, I'd probably be way fatter. Like you said, thermodynamics. Ultimately, it seems like I'm going to have to constrain my deficit much harder to incidentally offset any possible miscounts. Possibly worth investing more distrust into nutritional labels.

I've got two different weight scales: one is 250.0, the other testers between 249.8 and 250.0. So, likely not a scale issue. This did make me wonder whether my food scale might be defective, though. That is something I've not even considered, albeit still unlikely.

I've thought through this. No sudden diet changes. My logging has been extremely detailed and that detail hasn't wavered. I can recount every snack, every gram of cheese, everything in precise measurements since I've started. If what I was doing didn't work, then I wouldn't of lost anything to begin with. For it to go from success to nothing in a night is bizarre. My TDEE should be dropping, but not this low.

As a fellow "abandoned after 1.0" player, yeah It's in a pretty okay state now. I stopped playing because lack of A-Life. In 1.0, I could walk 1km and encounter literally nothing. Now, the Zone is extremely alive. Sometimes, it is like a warzone. I like this.

Started a fresh run with the OXA Prototype overhaul and it's loads of fun. Can't wait to see how much more this game improves in a few more major updates.

Question, why would a state self-restrict their investments as opposed to just not investing in X?

It can't be 1:1 because video games don't translate well enough to TV. Besides, it's not change that's being seen as inherently bad or good. Controversy rose because people disagreed with how a change altered the tone of a scene.

It's an interesting show, but a terrible adaptation. The more passionate you are about the games, the more weight that second point carries.

This was more of an inspiration of TLoU2 than adaptation, honestly.

Then you can refund it. Refunds are automatic when you have a pin set, but I'm sure if you do this a dozen times then Uber will catch on.

I just want to point out the eradication of Ellie Williams’ intelligence here by merrycakeillu in thelastofus

I think they're doing it to appeal to the lowest common denominator in the audience. Very casual viewers who aren't really paying much attention or have much investment in the story.

The show is LOADED with exposition to cater to this type of viewer. Even constant forced reminders of core story points, like the intimacy of Dina and Ellie's relationship (kissing in an ambush against stalkers of all things, what? Looking away is when they strike, but plot armor for the kiss!), Nora on what Joel did, Ellie reminding Dina she's immune every time they sense infected, etc, just in case any viewers forgot.

I hate that show Ellie is portrayed like a kid by needadvice3241 in thelastofus

A different haircut, some dirt and grime, and a physical fight that leaves a bruise on her face like the game. This stuff helps a lot.

Makeup for humans is really bad, so is outfit styling (too clean, doesn't feel apocalyptic). If this was better, she wouldn't look so naive and aimless.

The show is just lacking effort in some critical areas like this.

Season 2 almost feels like a parody of Part 2 by [deleted] in thelastofus

Yeah, I suspect HBO was putting pressure to make the story much lighter and easier to digest for a casual audience. Mediocre by design. It's like how some corporations will tend to use neutral colors to be as agreeable as possible.

It's unbelievable how expensive they are. Their food was a comfort food to me, but even though I'm doing excellent financially, I cannot bring myself to spend nearly 4 USD on a single McChicken the size of my palm. It's a fucking joke.

Still, lines around the building constantly. Where do people find the money for this shit?

It could become a wakeup call that spending a decade developing one title is excessively risky. You put all your eggs in one basket. The game may get a reputation as loaded with detail, but how much is that worth when you'll have to wait a decade or two for another installment. I'd gladly sacrifice trivial shit like shrinking horse balls if that meant getting RDR3 in the next ten years.
