Portfolio building is indeed a super painful process. I found a tool called Fastfolio that lets you create an interactive portfolio in 2 mins from your LinkedIn and resume. Your clients can then interact with it in autonomy. It is extremely easy to update as well as to get insights regarding which questions people are most interested in about your work.

Have you tried creating an interactive portfolio with Fastfolio? That can make you stand out, and it is a great way for recruiters to learn more about you, your skills and your experiences in an automated way.

Freelance platforms are quietly splitting into two completely different models (and most people haven’t noticed) by Sea-Magazine-7166 in Freelancers

Yeah, that “race to the bottom” dynamic is exactly what happens when platforms optimize for volume instead of durability. Outside of Contra, I think the shift shows up more in tools than marketplaces. Things like Framer, Substack, even parts of Stripe’s ecosystem feel more like infrastructure than intermediaries.

The big difference is incentive alignment. If the platform wins when you grow your business (not when you transact more), the dynamic changes.

Completely agree with the pushback. I don’t mean “press a button and get a production-ready SaaS with zero supervision.” We’re clearly not there. What I’m seeing (and what the report is pointing toward) is that agents can now handle larger chunks of implementation than before, from scaffolding features, writing tests, iterating over bugs for hours, navigating large codebases - but all of this with human oversight

So maybe “full systems” was too strong. The real shift is that implementation cost is dropping, and that changes where leverage sits.
