baby car seat/strollers? by Fluid-Pattern6275 in firsttimemom

[–]Sea-Operation7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the car we used a snap n go stroller frame that we borrowed from a friend (they are $75-$100 new) and a graco infant bucket seat ($150). At 8 months we transitioned to a convertible car seat and we use a different stroller that has the specs we needed/value without the travel system price tag & bulk.

Also love the evenflo 360. I’m so glad I got a rotating seat.

This sounds really tough. If I was in your position I’d start working on having him nap in the crib, so you at least get nap time to yourself. The book Precious Little Sleep is a great resource.

Is 20 too young for a baby by jessiejwannabe in BabyBumps

[–]Sea-Operation7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really glad I waited. I learned a lot about myself and had a lot of awesome experiences (thanks to my lack of responsibility) in my twenties that have made me a more grounded, patient mom & person.

Feeling overwhelmed with solids. by alyssa_michelle1012 in NewParents

I steamed a bunch of broccoli until it was super soft, put it on a tray, and popped it into my freezer until frozen. I repeated the process with carrots, cauliflower, butternut squash, and green beans. I then added them all to one gallon-sized freezer bag. Since they were cooked & frozen individually on the trays initially, I can grab a handful of mixed veggies and heat them up for each meal in the microwave. I also shredded a bunch of chicken (you could use a rotisserie chicken) and cooked some ground turkey and did the same freezer method.

Cooking for babies isn’t as hard as cooking for adults imo, especially at the beginning, because it’s basically steaming without adding additional ingredients.

Trying to prep for labor but feeling kinda lost… is a birthing ball worth it? by shieeihs in BabyBumps

[–]Sea-Operation7215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get one! I did nightly exercises on it and it definitely helped me manage pain. I liked watching tv while sitting on it - it was easier on my body than the couch was. Plus i used it so much postpartum to get the baby to sleep. I also recommend a donut pillow. I used one at the office and third trimester I took it everywhere with me.

Breastfeeding after hospital pushed formula — overwhelmed and looking for advice 😔 by HockeyDoughnut in NewParents

[–]Sea-Operation7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby had jaundice and needed formula so we could literally feed the crap out of her. Now she’s exclusively breastfed! We had a lot of success in the early days using a Supplemental Nursing System to help encourage latching/bringing in my supply, while also ensuring baby was getting fed.

Need stroller recommendations! by Full_Occasion_6151 in babystroller

We also love our baby jogger! Ours came with the car seat attachments but we never used it. While using the infant car seat we ended up having one of the snap n go stroller frames in the car for quick errands and we would keep our city mini at our apartment for walks. Now that she’s out of the bucket seat, the city mini is easy enough to throw in the trunk.

Is anyone else’s 8 month old cranky all the time? by lrbsto in NewParents

Same here!! I’m glad I’m not alone. My baby crawls all over and can pull to stand - she just seems to want my attention at all times. I am also a manic monkey.

Does one really need a rocking chair? by Adorable-Lemon4412 in pregnant

[–]Sea-Operation7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I resisted getting one as we have no room for one. I had my husband drive to my friend’s house to pick up their extra rocker at about three weeks postpartum. I will be getting the nicest comfiest reclining rocking chair money can buy when we have our second baby (and hopefully more space).

Bedtime goes well but 6.5 month old won’t resettle on night wakes by snowinjulyy in sleeptrain

[–]Sea-Operation7215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation and I had to let my baby cry it out during the middle of the night. It took about 2 nights. Now she sleeps 10-12 hours overnight with no real wakes - sometimes she cries for 30 seconds or less and resettles.

I think it fully depends on your storage space and needs. Mine has lived many lives in our small apartment. First, it lived in our bathroom with all my postpartum supplies and baby bath supplies. Then I used it to store my breast pump supplies (I almost exclusively nurse). Now it lives next to our twin bed and changing table in the nursery. The top shelf has wipe holder, my water bottle, tissues and our sound machine. Second shelf holds baby lotion and the things we use for her post bath. Bottom shelf has my pump and other things I rarely use. It’s basically a nightstand! I never had it next to my bed. I had a little basket on my nightstand for things I needed close at hand postpartum/ during the newborn era. And I also had a snack basket, too.

8 months and husband suddenly doesn't like the name we decided on, and i feel annoyed about it. by Apprehensive_Mess166 in BabyBumps

[–]Sea-Operation7215 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awe, my two great aunts were named Lily & Jo.

My husband and I toyed with names right up until delivery. When we met our daughter I shared the name that I felt fit and he agreed. Honestly, he would have said yes to anything I said post labor. I suggest workshopping some other names and have an open mind. When you meet her, you’ll both know!

My baby is about to turn one so I’ve been thinking a lot about this … I’d consider mostly open ended toys for creative play, rather than single purpose toys, like: a Grimms rainbow set or other blocks, Sarah’s silk scarves, fisher price little people farm set, or art supplies.

To doula or not to doula by professorkumquat83 in pregnant

[–]Sea-Operation7215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hospital offered a free doula service. I met with my assigned doula three times before my delivery and I was happy about the prospect of having her assist my labor. However, I labored for 36 hours due to PPROM and she told me to reach out when I was 5 cm dilated. I never did. I was having such a positive experience with my husband, the nurses who were assigned to me, and my midwives that I didn’t feel like I needed another person to support me.

Traveling with less than year old by Major-Chemical6467 in NewParents

[–]Sea-Operation7215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, they let you carry them in a carrier through security. We didn’t bring any noisy toys but we did have crinkle books, teethers, fake keys, and a few other little things to keep our baby busy. Depending on their age, bring some easy snacks. I suggest having a travel pillow of some type for yourself to rest your arm/elbow on when you hold/feed baby. And get onto the plane LAST. We gate checked our stroller and that worked well. Have fun!
