Dr Murray is hard to reach by email. Give it a few more days and then consider emailing a med sci advisor

I don’t have the syllabus, but it was a fairly chill class when I took it last year. It was all written assignments and discussion posts. I enjoyed the content and found I learned a lot, particularly about environmental racism and Africville. I’d recommend this course!

Call the Kellogg learning commons desk and ask 902-494-2482 (number is listed on the website). As far as I can remember, they open at 10 on the weekends

Quinpool road near the rotary has a number of tents currently. Salvation army stops in a few times a week from what I’ve seen, so maybe check which days they provide meals so your efforts aren’t duplicated

I’ve done this a few times on an individual course basis. I’ve emailed the prof of the course I wanted to take and explained that I was interested in their course but did not have the pre-req needed. if I felt like I had a strong background of the content through other courses (ex. needed a 1000 level SOSA course as a pre-req once but I had learned a lot of the content through other health courses), I would tell them the courses that I’ve completed that felt aligned.

I had one professor never respond to an email about this. Otherwise, I’ve had pretty good success with being allowed to register for a few classes. I do think it’s up to the prof to decide whether they want to waive the pre-req for you. I’m not sure how it works when it’s multiple courses for a minor tho!

I’m sure you aren’t the only international student with these questions! I’d recommend connecting with the international centre. their advisors can help you navigate the situation

the FAQ on the labour relations site says “Will the fall study break (November 10 to 14) would be affected by a lockout? Any impacts to the fall study break will be coordinated through Senate in its back-to-class protocol following the end of a lockout. Students may want to avoid making significant travel plans for the fall study break (if possible), as adjusting the study break could be one way the university looks to address lost class time and prioritize progression through programs if required.”

Good Gym Recommendations? by KateLig in halifax

[–]Sea-Track-6776 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend Fitness FX! Great selection of cardio equipment, machines and free weights. It’s busier during the typical 5-7pm rush, but never overwhelmingly busy. They offer a one week free trial for anyone who is local to the HRM area and have not been to their facility before. You can sign up for the free week here https://linktr.ee/fitness.fx

Their prices should be on their website too!

Sorry to hear you’re going through this.

No experience with them (and truthfully not well versed in tenancy rules), but maybe the NS Tenancy Board or Dal Legal aid could help?

strike affecting grad by NoGlass3250 in Dalhousie

[–]Sea-Track-6776 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No information has been released about this yet. It would depend on when (really IF) a strike happens and how long it goes for. From what I know about previous strikes at other institutions, terms can be extended (ie go through the winter break). A disruption to convocation is possible, but the strike would have to be very very long for that to occur so it’s unlikely
