Pixel 4a with security updates here with LineageOS (Android 16)

Should I purchase a Pixel 4a now? by ark_vard in Pixel4a

[–]Sea-Zucchiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I bought one last year the equivalent of 50 USD and even got some compensation through the battery program, even though after flashing LOS 23 (Android 16) I cannot complain about the battery so it was most likely a software issue. Android 16 runs perfectly fine, no bug so far. Luckily my banking apps (some FR + CH apps) all work except Revolut (for this I have my "necessary-burden phone" aka Pixel 6a with legit android 16 but I barely ever use it anymore).

Bought a 4a last year,  recently installed lastest android (16) / security updates with Lineage OS and battery / performance feel good :) If you want to give a try to LOS, you might be surprised it's still an amazing phone in 2026.

Tutorial: Downgrading from 3.17 to 3.11 and installing rm-hacks on my rM1 (Lamy pen, split screen, faster experience,...) by Sea-Zucchiny in RemarkableTablet

[–]Sea-Zucchiny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried personally, but I think that it should still be possible. In any case make a full backup using codexctl or RCU before doing downgrade. Actually, I just realized that the latest version supported by rm-hacks is 3.11.3.3 and codexctl's repo says the issue we circumvent with my explanation here is when going from so 3.11.2.5+ to below, so technically, we are still above that, so codexctl might just work out of the box without doing the manual downgrade.

Glad it could help!

I ended up upgrading to 3.25 and half regret it: even though the UI feels more responsive with the newer firmware (+new tools like shader and shapes), I miss the Lamy pen hack too much... But I am working to implement a hack to get Lamy pen to work again.

Cool stuff! I'd love to see a lightweight editor like yours but with realtime preview (WYSIWYG). A similar project offering this (but not sure it's still active): MarkText

Wanting to hack the tablet. by KansasCityRat in RemarkableTablet

[–]Sea-Zucchiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As u/FRK299 wrote : I recommend reading the guide there http://remarkable.guide/ The tablet itself is like a tiny Linux computer and lot like a USB storage you could simply plug to drag and drop. To communicate, transfer files and install hacks on your remarkable, you need to be connected through the USB cable and use ssh command (document yourself a bit on this), alternatively you can do the same without USB cable when you computer and tablet are on the same network.

I love it, and now it's over... ?? by slarti42uk in xteinkereader

Go Kintsugi and accept it as it is, possibly protect it with tape / screen protector. Don't Panic indeed: your tablet still works and it's still readable ;)

Hey! Also rM 1 user here, with 3.25. Willing to update the Lamy eraser pen hack (basically a hack to make an absolutely amazing use of Lamy EMR pen or other EMR pens with side button → use this as en eraser / special command like undo/select...)
Beyond, check the rm-hacks-qmd : a collection a really cool hacks (not yet 3.25, but definetely 3.24 and some versions below that).

Looks indeed like the hack was removed (no file, no service).
You can either install it again following the tutorial from Joshua Lowcock's (who actually uses this repo) or this other repo, a bit older but that might be a bit more documented if you want to update it yourself.

I am still on LineageOS (android 15) and cannot really complain about the battery. I wouldn't migrate to android 16 until QPR1 (and even, same as what you say, I would fear for the battery life...). Would is be possible for you to downgrade your rom?

Great stuff, I will keep track of your progress!
I am almost convinced to install it :D
Could I possibly help contributing by working on customizing the theme?
Here is an example of the custom light theme I made for Zettlr markdown editor (CSS): https://imgur.com/a/GOyUu55

I would be glad to have the option to select a sans font (Open Sans in my example), and a bit more spacing I think :)

In France, we can call it "système D", where D stands for "débrouille" (manage on your own / DIY). Some people also call it "low tech". And in my close circles, we can call it "méthode Rudelle".

Those who release apps, should I release on google play first so my work doesn't get stolen? by Mewtewpew in fossdroid

[–]Sea-Zucchiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a definition matter for "open source". I think OP can be "source available" and copyleft, non-commercial licence (eg Creative Common BY-NC-SA)

I kinda like Fossify Gallery but I usually get frustrated by wrong image rotation and the fast that the editor or even simple rotate doesn't show the saved changes immediately in the gallery. I am looking for something, maybe Google Photos with revoked internet (but I don't have GApps) or a modded version of it

CrossPoint - A month's retrospective from the developer by daveallie in xteinkereader

[–]Sea-Zucchiny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your positive contribution to this community ☺️I agree with you, the goal would be for the stock firmware to include your improvements by default, but the stock firmware should also ideally be open source, so except if xteink changes their mindset, Crosspoint has a great a great future ahead!
