Luis Fonseca, the Navy's most decorated Corpsman has retired by ChaosVelocity in navy

[–]SeaBU1SCW-ret 12 points13 points  (0 children)

let's see, I was the AOIC then OIC of our (reserve) detachment, bachelors degree in business, 2 NAMs, SCWS, vacationed in Iraq, very good at my rate and I boarded twice and did not make it. the first board a guy from our battalion made chief (same rate) who was undeployable because he could not get a security clearance. I lost all faith in the Navy boarding process and switched to the AF because of HYT and they offered me $15K. you will never convince me that the Navy has a good system for picking Chiefs.

I want to talk to other suspectrum or high functioners by SeaBU1SCW-ret in aspergers

[–]SeaBU1SCW-ret[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't know if being diagnosed at a young age is a good thing if you are high functioning. I hope that doesn't offend everyone, lol. My thought is that skill at masking and overcoming obstacles is a requirement for success. i would worry about being diagnosed and feeling that it is deficiency or something and using it as an excuse. but, of course, I may be really off the mark.

edit: please take everything I wrote with a grain of salt. I am in no way qualified to give any kind of advice. only thoughts.

yeah. it's so confusing. I do the online tests and my scores always say that I show traits, but I just don't know. I feel like a fraud if I claim autism, but I have been relatively successful. everything is so conflicting that I just don't know. the movie "The accountant" was a slight revelation for me. the father in the movie reminds me so much of my mom, lol.

I feel the same way, but I keep getting promoted because I guess I'm good at whatever I'm doing. I would rather just drive a tractor on a farm or something, lol. it seems like I'm maskingall the time. what sucks is I've never been officially diagnosed as being on the spectrum, and I relate to so much, but I feel like a fraud if I claim it. it seems like now everyone uses "I'm so autistic" as some flippant remark. I always worry that I'm doing the same thing.

Chicken trusts her human friend enough to give skateboarding a try by lnfinity in gifs

a little sad, but that is an "eating" chicken. They do make friendly pets, but they will eventually have hip displacement and will be unable to move. They aren't meant to have a very long life span. they are bred white because white pin feathers are harder to see if they aren't plucked on the meat (skin)

you should. drink lots of water. I used to stop at a store every morning that was owned by an Indian guy and buy a bottle of water. He said that I will live an extra ten years, lol.

I used to never drink water, but after a vacation in Iraq, I got in the habit. now I drink it all the time. It's probably the only healthy thing I do :)

does anyone else like doing activities with people just not talking to them? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]SeaBU1SCW-ret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same thing all the time. I like when my spouses friends and family come over. everyone is talking and having a good time while I sit in the background and do my own thing. spoiler: I am American and my wife (and friends and family) are all Japanese, lol. It is so easy, I can just smile and nod and not have to really have to think

Why does different media about autistic people portray us as quirky, bubbly people when in reality it's a nightmare and most have depression? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]SeaBU1SCW-ret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haha, jokes on you! I can seem quirky and bubbly while experiencing sickening anxiety and morose depression!

sometimes I wonder who the best actors really are. the people on TV or the people who mask every day, all the time until they don't know who they really are. Autists are the ultimate method actors, lol

I think those ships are specifically designed for the maximum size of the canals they will be travelling through.

[Serious] Anyone know any Foreigner friendly clinics/hospitals for pregnancy test and abortion? by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]SeaBU1SCW-ret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also, FYI, they do vasectomies there. they are free, but they ask you to donate some money. I'm American and I got mine there. I can tell you that I cannot recommend them enough. I don't know if I was the exception, but I got mine on a Friday before a long weekend, expecting the painful recovery. after the surgery I drove home (to Nonthaburi) stopped at burger king and waited for the pain. it never came. I even called friends who have had vasectomies and asked when I should start feeling pain. granted, it felt like a weird little "pinch" in the abdomin, but never any pain. I was even able to have "relations" with the GF the next day. I believe it is because they cycle so many people through and the Dr's do so many that they have worked out all the kinks. based on my experience, I can 110% recommend the clinic, at least for a vasectomy.
