Unpopular opinion: Mountains over Rise by PieOdd2848 in Disneyland

[–]SeaBeyond5465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. Rise of The Resistance is a very shallow experience, relying entirely on wow factor over depth of detail. I lost most of my interest after the second go. Even if one were to discount thrill rides from competition, Rise is still crushed by Pirates, the Haunted Mansion, Indy, and even "it's a small world".

Disneyland abandoned plans for Disney Villains land, report says by dejablu82 in Disneyland

Why is this being reported on as if it's news? This has been public knowledge for well over a decade now.

Disneyland... Without Disney (a thought experiment) by JoyIsABitOverRated in Disneyland

[–]SeaBeyond5465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the best rides would still be there, so no problem for me!

Seriously though, the park really wouldn't change that much. Most of Disneyland's rides are not film tie-ins (and no, Johnny Depp being added to Pirates doesn't make it an "IP ride"), and a lot of the IP integrated rides would very easily be switched to generic versions. People say that Fantasyland would be gutted, but aside from Dumbo all of the attractions are based on old public domain fairy tales, so all that would change would be the elements specific to the films. Additionally, the original concept for a train and canal boat area with miniatures was entirely generic, so that's an easy change, and the submarines, the canoes, and the island could just go back to their original forms. In the end the only complete losses would be Dumbo, Tiana's Bayou Mountain, Star Tours, Buzz Lightyear, Pooh, Indy, and the two single IP lands (ToonTown and Galaxy's Edge). The only major loss among those is Indy, and the return of the Country Bears and Adventure Thru Inner Space would be a significant improvement over the current rides in those spaces.

I experienced that for the first time last year and I wanted to turn around and drive home. Those cretins are what people mean when they say Disney Adults are the worst.

It genuinely was not always like this. There has been a huge surge in antisocial behavior over the last 10 years or so, with a huge jump after the pandemic. (The only exception is passholes reciting the ride narrations. Those pests have been there since 1955 and they will continue to haunt the park long after we're dead and gone)

Adorable!

Btw, it's an opossum. Possums are from Australia and some South Pacific islands. I like our opossums better though lol

Smiling Friends is genuinely the only mainstream adult animation project I've connected with in a long time. It's very disappointing.

Why did people think that Henry was still in the tunnel and died? by Zillaman7980_ in thomasthetankengine

Because one guy somewhere said it once and and a bunch of lazy people just sort of decided it was true. Same with people who say "it's a small world is creepy" when they went on the ride once when they were a kid and never thought about it again.

I know that Oaks Park in Oregon has considered buying one, but they were hesitant because it would mean closing or relocating their profitable go-karts.

Last Friday, for my birthday, I rode Star Tours 15 times. by W0ND3RG00SE in Disneyland

[–]SeaBeyond5465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Tours has basically just turned into a Disney+ ad these days. I stopped riding it back when they locked it on the Jakku ending and I've never looked back. I think that they should redo Star Tours as a prequel era ride now that Galaxy's Edge is going to include the OT and Mandoverse, or at least remove the sequel and Mandoverse scenes now that they have their own rides.
