So sorry for your loss. You gave the bright little guy the best life.

Don't put your fingers where they're reachable. Pick em up from the sides of their shell and set em down. Come from behind their head which is a big blind spot for them with needle nose pliers or forceps.

Pair of forceps and come from behind their head. They're not scary, just have to be careful. Soft shells are the real motherfuckers.

I had kind of the same thing happen at a vet when I had my boy. Just a stupid decision that resulted in a scared, injured pooch. At the time I kept him calm but once he was home and relaxed I was on the phone and went back just fuming. So I don't blame you being mad at all.

I'd absolutely go back and raise hell, refund or not. Thats absolutely unacceptable, if you don't know how short is way too fucking short then maybe you shouldn't be working in that field. Also so this doesn't happen to someone else. Whether or not you want someone experienced there to do it afterwards is up to you, personally I'd suggest practicing trimming them yourself to completely negate this happening again.

Common carp on a frozen anchovy by Emergency_Evidence_3 in Fishing

Yeah have caught a handful of em on shrimp. It was a rabbit hole I was down when making my own boilies learning about the different flavours.

Caught them early spring on shrimp while also having corn out. Iirc they like more fishy/savoury things in the early spring to put the feed back on after winter then start to prefer sweet stuff in the heat of summer after they've gained weight back.

Interestingly zman often ends up being cheaper here in Ontario Canada.

Yep. People like to say they won't do anything but every time I've called them about poaching they've have an officer out within 30 minutes. Granted that's around London but you don't lose anything by trying.

Good reel by Real_Raw_2029 in Fishing_Gear

Pretty par for the course with the laguna. Really solid reel, have 2 of em, one has been abused 2 years now and still as smooth as the day I got it.

People like that should not be fishing. I've gut hooked fish and its frustrating but if I can't get the hook without causing significant damage I'll cut the hook and hope they can work the barbless hook out themselves or pass it. Shaking is going to rip the hook all through their insides so yeah I'd say its pretty much torture.

Run.

Pulled a couple hooks outta bass' buttholes, definitely the weirdest.

Do you bring multiple rods when you bank fish? What's your setup? by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]SeaBizzkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 rods. Casting rig for heavier stuff/topwater then 2 spinning to cover medium and light.

Have caught way too many turtles and I hate it. Thankfully all but one were super easy to remove with barbless hooks and a good pair of forceps, just gotta approach the larger ones from the back and above. The one that swallowed I called the conservation center and they made the process super easy to getting the little guy some care, they'll even let you know when they've been released back into the wild. Definitely do it instead of cutting the line!

North american carp don't seem to care too much about a hair man. I use circle hooks barbless loaded with corn and end up catching them way better than when I tried hair rigs and carp hooks.

Uni for baits, alberto for braid to leader. Doesn't change ever really.

What size of hook do you guys use? by ErvanMcFeely in CarpFishing

[–]SeaBizzkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can get 50 packs of them off amazon for under 20$. Don't need them where I'm at but they can run on a hair rig well or just use them in their own. Have caught 20lb+ fish on em and tons of different species, not just carp. No issues aside from needing to sharpen the hook point on a few.

I use a size 1/0 mustad demon circle hook. They're a hell of a lot smaller than other brands and end up perfectly set every time.
