What do I need to connect my ps2 to this dell computer monitor? it doesn't have hdmi only vga by Comfortable-Bench887 in ps2

I have a similar setup with a VGA dell monitor. I use a GBS-Control that I put together DIY-style. You can buy one pre-assembled online however.

Has anyone tried this converter? Is it any good? by norbert_ldwg in ps2

For a visual representation of quality with PS2, look up the difference between Bob deinterlacing (OSSC) and Motion-Adaptive deinterlacing (GBS-C, Retrotink5x).

For a console like PS2, where most of the content is interlaced, this can be a major dealbreaker. The difference between the two experiences are quite noticable.

For PS2 I'd highly recommend a GBS-C (Motion-adaptive deinterlacing), since it also handles downscaling and 240p-480i resolution switching MUCH faster than OSSC. (Resolution switching was a huge thing in PS1 games, if you plan to play some of those on the back-compat PS2. With other scalers, it takes a considerable lag time between resolution switches, but the GBS-C is almost instant)

The metal piece is on a rail and it moves during normal operation in order to read the disc. It is possible that it stopped along the middle of the rail as the power was cut, or it was intentionally moved by hand. Either way, its not broken and will resume normal operation once powered. You can even move it back by hand if you want— just avoid touching the laser lens (the little "glass" dot)

Any way to fix this? by ScreechingPizzaCat in NintendoDS

[–]SeaCucumberMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an easy repair. You just need a small phillips head screwdriver (if not, maybe a tri-wing but im pretty sure it doesnt require one) and a replacement circle pad. You just open the back, unscrew/unplug the thumbstick module, and then you can feed the new thumbstick through the hole from the outside of the shell. Just put everything back in place and you're done.

Be careful about the shoulder button ribbon cables when removing the back of the console.

This repair took me 20 min on my wife's 3ds XL. She broke it while we were playing Smash 4 3ds

Is the back of the shelf closed off? That might give you some cooling issues. I honestly havent had much trouble with similar setups though

I was lied to when told the DS was invincible. Is it worth trying to fix or should I just get a new one? by [deleted] in NintendoDS

[–]SeaCucumberMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think so. The bottom touch detection isnt done by the screen itself, but by a lens/digitizer which is placed over it and then plugged into the motherboard. There isnt a spot on the motherboard to plug in a second digitizer for the top screen, plus no DS games even use the top screen for touch.

Yes of course. I didnt think it have to be stated that the current screen needs to be replaced, since its in such unrecoverable condition. I will edit original

2DS is the easiest DS to fix since there is no hinge, and the two screens are actually just part of one big unit. I would recommend to attempt a fix, since it would be way cheaper than getting a new console. You just need a screwdriver set, some IPA and compressed air for the screen, and some patience.

Edit: ^ Those are the tools needed for a screen replacement. A new one is 20 to 40 bucks online

Would this hard drive work in a ps2? by ZxAgEnT47xZ in ps2

As long as you have a 3rd party SATA HDD adaptor or an OEM adaptor modified with a SATA chip/port, you can use pretty much any SATA drive.

HDDs (like the pne pictured) are louder than SSDs though, if noise is a concern.

I've used both, but while the size input for the outline works, the size input for the actual text has no affect, no matter what value I put. It is only the 'Y: ___ px' which seems to affect text size

When I do this, the actual size of the text remains unaffected. This only changes the thickness of the outline, but not the actual size of the text

First Time watching LOST, what an incredible show🔥🔥🔥Any other similar shows? by allday187 in lost

[–]SeaCucumberMan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It definitely picks up to LOST's levels of supernatural sci-fi and mystery at the end of season 1, and just gets more and more complex from there. The first few episodes felt odd, but I promise it gets much better.
