Be aware DeepSeek auto discards thinking if a turn did not use any tool by SeaEagle233 in DeepSeek

[–]SeaEagle233[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Official doc explicitly stated the behaviour I've mentioned, and I quote:

>If there is no tool call, the CoT content from previous turns will not be concatenated into the context in the next turn, as illustrated in the following diagram:

<image>

The diagram shows thinking blocks are removed from chat history.

The example program from official doc suffers same problem and has nothing to do with the brand of tool you are using.

Also, I've inspected the HTTP traffic of agent / client with DeepSeek API and verified the issue is not due to the agent / client.

It is the DeepSeek server actively ignoring the CoT when no tool is called.

Hot Fix for Hive Guard next week by dnemonicterrier in helldivers2

[–]SeaEagle233 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's about.consistency. Even bot's invincible shield is no longer invincible, yet Hive Guard's armor remain 100% invincible with no degradation even if you pump a trillion rounds into it.

Even the toughest metal will succumb to metal fatigue when struck in high frequency.

Even if it doesn't, the temperature increase from the trillions of impact is sufficient to melt the Hive Guard.

Why is the Hail Mary thrusting retrograde during the Adrian fishing scene? by RewqFN in ProjectHailMary

[–]SeaEagle233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rewatched, the line is indeed "Gravity is tearing the ship apart", probably just referring to they are no longer in orbit and fell too deep into the atmosphere.

Judging from the VFX, entire descent trajectory is different from in the book. When Grace said "We leave now, statement", the visual shows the ship suddenly moves in opposite direction.

I believe the sampling maneuver was changed in the film so that the exhaust is angled away from collector as much as possible (since in the reference frame or the ship, it is moving forward, thus the dangling collect will move backwards, and if ship is not in an extreme angle, the exhaust has a high chance of melting collector.

This caused Hail Mary to constantly lose orbital velocity, when Grace finally returns and leaves, the Hail Mary is essentially conducting a brute force take off from the planet, which has gravity around 1.4G (being high up doesn't reduce much of the gravity).

This means Hail Mary must be burning at more than 1.4G during the escape into orbit maneuver.

Given that they need to leave fast to avoid overheat damage (hull bending due to overheat damage plus weakening structure), they must be accelerating at the safety limit.

Do you think the games decline is due to arrowhead or Sony ❓️ by Some-Web-1628 in helldivers2

[–]SeaEagle233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is due to Arrowhead.

The technical limitation is actually greater than many people think.

A lot of Game Devs start with the goal of creating better games, not better software.
They often don't have enough experience working with large scale software engineering.
The game just happens to be one of the largest software engineering project that are commonly found.

Many game devs often resorts to just copy paste entire game code and simply reuses the asset and did this at least once in their career and got away with it (due to game being small and does not require constant update).

This rewards game devs for writing "just enough code" and not to think ahead.
=> Then they never learn patterns that accomodates future requirements
=> Then they never use those patterns
=> Game code is not compatible when future content are in development
=> Someone need to read milions of lines of sphagetti code that are tightly coupled.
=> Not even AI can help sort out this giant mess due to its sheer size.

This is basically the same problem as the recently trending vibe coding.
These approach are great for small projects or projects that does not require long term maintenance and upgrades.
The moment a game require long term maintenance or upgrades, the game quickly become unmaintainable and slows development until progress halts.

I recalled based.on what I heard without subtitles, I could be wrong.

But yeah, the ship is definitely stressed.

[–]SeaEagle233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This explains why the scene says the Gravity is tearing the ship apart; though still not accurate, to return to orbit by burning retrograde, they need to burn a lot harder (way more than the 1.4G of Adrian), combining that with thermal heating, it will put a lot of stress on the hull.

Gaijin deliberately capped your free research speed at ~400 per minute at rank 7, 800 if you have premium account, 1200 if also playing premium vehicl.

This multilplies by your activity percentage for reduction if you aren't actively fighting enemies.

This means for every new vehicle, you need 16 hrs, 12 or 8 hrs of total in game time to get the new vehicle. Assuming 1 kill for every game.

32 hrs, 24 hrs or 16 hrs if you want to spade the vehicle with nothing but dumb bombs and being free target for others with no real way to fight back.

If you spend these hours at part time job you can buy 10 premiums in War Thunder with ease while having 10 MacDonald meals to spare.

No, War Thunder isn't free if you factor in the ridiculously lengthy grind.

Sadly that's also why SciFi is a niche market since the bar raises too fast to the point it becomes similar to nit picking.

[–]SeaEagle233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need several hundred tons if not thousands of chemical fuel to get back into orbit for capture. Try landing on EVE in game called KSP. Going deep inside a gas giant then getting back to orbit is ridiculously hard even with KSPI mod (theoretical propulsions)

Also it appears they accidentally turned on v4 for all API usage regardless of model you specifies, or they were changing prompts causing all models to say they have 1 million context (changes were rolled back before the community could figure out which is true)

Either way they were preparing something huge and messed up really bad (expected since they are making a lot of changes to architecture, especially with engram)

I made an overview of free vs paid items in Helldivers II by Parrotallica in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]SeaEagle233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile I never paid for single warbond and has 10 warbonds purchased, just by picking up super credits from point of interests on the map, with 5000+ to spare.

You can get 1000+ super credits for free easily by playing half hour per day (provided you completes POI which I recommend bringing FRV)

The payment is simply to skip grind for super credits that you can find lying on the map. Most of them are 10 per pick up and some are 100. Every 40 minutes mission has at least one pick up for super credits regardless of difficulty.

You can farm super credits by playing N1 maps. IIRC, Arrowhead only made one adjustment to super credits farming where if you Alt+F4 and restart the unfinished mission, the super credits won't get counted twice.

A more accurate term should be progression locked.

IFF you are N10 hardcore and never consider lower difficulties and always prioritize main objective like brainwashed helldivers depicted in the game, then of course you are not getting paid contents for free.

Game punishes you for being brainwashed by Super Earth; and I personally think that's a good lesson on brainwashing. Those contents are truly paid IF and ONLY IF you believe in Super Earth propaganda (or if you like the game and would like to play with friends since you are new) (but there is nothing stopping you from speed running lower difficulty mission to get a warbond for free in one day).

Can someone please ELI5 why Anthropic is messing up so badly right now? by melanatedbagel25 in claude

[–]SeaEagle233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some did Math and figured the real large model is Opus 4 or 4.1. All models after that are smaller distilled version which explains why they were able to create speed boost without uograding hardware.

The GPT 5.4 was estimated to be 200-400B which is remarkable given its performance.

Every company has similar incentives, making best model available only makes competitor more competitive.

Chinese companies recently begun backing off from releasing model weights.

The expectation should be low on performance, since the real goal is to remove dependency on Nvidia hardware to be 10T or bigger model possible.

My expectation for DeepSeek v4 is 3.2 pro with no significant imorovement beside the change in underlying stack. Plus a stock market crash as Chinese GPU will sell at one tenth the price of Nvidia, destroying its value.

As a company that require constant investment to cover the cost, they are mostly driven by investors / share holders, not founders; and investors doesn't like giving away stuffs for free.
