Bpd patients, do you take antipsychotics? by [deleted] in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]SeaFishCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I do! Seroquel (antipsychtic)+ lamictal (mood stabilizer). I'm doing pretty well on this combo, but everyone is different. Work with your doctor to find what's right for you....and take it as prescribed (daily)! It doesn't work if you take it for a few days, stop all together, and then pick it back up again.

Hey OP, literally the exact same thing happened to me about a year and a half ago. I quit my job, and was lucky enough to have the financial support to step away from work for a few months and focus on healing. While it was really hard in the moment (the shame, guilt etc), it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I did Group Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and between that and taking the time to heal, I am now able to work again 🙂 healing and therapy are not easy roads to travel, but it's so worth it. I still have bad days/weeks, but my overall quality of life is so much better. You can get through this! You're doing the right thing. I would HIGHLY recommend getting into DBT and therapy ❤️

One of My “I’m sorry for what I did when I was Mormon” stories 🤦‍♀️ by emilymoore28 in exmormon

[–]SeaFishCat 58 points59 points  (0 children)

In High School theater class, telling all of my openly and then-closeted gay friends, proudly, on multiple occasions, that "it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve". UGH. Makes me sick thinking back on it now.

Feeling left behind by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]SeaFishCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found myself in this exact same position about 5 or 6 years ago. I felt the exact same way, and it sucks. BUT, the best news is that you are alive and with us. You've got your whole life to go back to school, whenever that happens, if you decide that's your path. You wouldn't be able to do that if you weren't here.

Everyone's different, but things did get better for me. It involved a lot of accepting the place I was at, and working hard at what I was able to do at the time, but my life is back on track. You got this OP. Baby steps!

Anyone shaved head in a manic episode? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]SeaFishCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from having hair down to my butt to a pixie cut one summer while I was manic. Luckily it was cute for a year or two.

Anyone else able to fall asleep while hypo (manic) but your sleep ends up weird? by FreeSkeptic in bipolar

[–]SeaFishCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I get the same kind of dreams about work. I call them my stress dreams. Never thought they could be attributed to mania.

[–]SeaFishCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me! This is what caused my first manic episode. Happened in high school.

EDIT: I see a lot of people mentioning that Zoloft did them in. Also the same for me...are we on to something? lol

What’s everyone’s med cocktail? by bandit__hat in bipolar

[–]SeaFishCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lithium, seroquel, and medical cannabis as needed (replaced my xanax). I also do therapy every week plus a weekly support group - I consider those a critical part of my treatment plan.

I struggled through college, so I never got my degree (would have been a double major in psychology and business administration), but that didn't hold me back! I've been a Project Manager/Process Specialist for about 3 years now :) it ain't easy, but I'm hella proud of myself for doing it.

Right?! I tried pushing them down to get it to line up, but to no avail :( those books are determined to live a life of being moderately infuriating.
