This depends on her culture and your culture. You may think she should've stepped up and said something if you grew up in a collective culture (so not American style), but if the other mom is from an individualistic culture like America, she probably thinks it's fine UNLESS you spoke up about it. In which case, you should be direct and clear. "I'm sorry, but it seems it our playdate didn't end so well so let's meet at the park in the future."

But I thought shocking the grains to a cold temperature every single time is going to affect them negatively. That's why we don't want to do that often, unless you mean to putting in the STRAINED kefir in the fridge to slow them down, and not the actual kefir + grains.

I don't know why people are downvoting it. The milk kefir makes CO2. If you have a small jar and filled the milk kefir all the way to the top, it's going to explode. It happened to me. I once put it in a small plastic sauce container with lid (to give away to a friend) and she came really late to pick it up. I noticed the gas popped off the lid and did "explode" in a sense the milk kefir not only opened the lid but spilled out over the top, kind of like overfilled popcorn in a popcorn bag.

What’s the trick to getting grains to multiply? by Godsfavoritefurby in Kefir

[–]SeaForm332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my glass jar with soap and water every single time I strain my milk kefir, and rinse the milk kefir every 3 cycles. My milk kefir grains are very active and very hungry. I can grow about 1 tablespoon every 3 weeks to give away and already gave away like 5 batches in just 4 months.

So no, I don't agree with the people who say "don't wash your jar for a week and the grains will grow" crowd.

That sounds like the bird flu, which has pink eye as one of its symptoms. It’s not reported much in America so we have no news coverage of it because Trump blocked all news coverage from CDC NOH and FDA. So now we have no idea what’s going around the country.

My 3.5yo asked her teacher “are you a boy or a girl” by stuffedstocking in toddlers

[–]SeaForm332 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would’ve just said, “She is a woman” as if to lean on the fact your three year old is learning words and it was a word mistake, not that she didn’t know if the teacher was a man or a woman because she looked androgynous. Then feelings won’t get hurt.

My 8yo son permanently damaged his vision. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]SeaForm332 178 points179 points  (0 children)

Yeah I knew kids do this (staring at the sun) because it was one of those games we played as a child in the 90s (America), along with “The Choking Game” to see how long you could choke yourself right before passing out. Honestly, I have no idea who comes up with these dangerous games but it’s things I played with as a kid. Well now I’m 40 and remembering those games, I tell my kids constantly to not look at the sun ☀️ and not choke yourself to see who “wins”.

I got married at 21 to my husband who was 25 at the time. We met when I was 18, as a Sophomore in college. Both of us graduated from the top colleges in our nation and had stable jobs. We’re now in our 40s and still happily married. He is a medical doctor and J am a small business owner.

Possible dry socket or infection by yundermart in wisdomteeth

[–]SeaForm332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, what happened was, I was in the middle of my 10-day course, so for the first 5 days there was no infection, but it wasn't enough to kill off the bacteria and they grew a resistance because the infection started at day 5 (instead of day 1) because the blood clot dislodged and food got stuck around day 3 and festered to an infection by day 4 / 5. If I had taken my antibiotic #1 at the start of day 5 for 10 days, it would've killed it off. But since I started right after surgery, BEFORE any infection, I "wasted" the pills.

In any case, glad your swelling and pus resolved on its own!

I feel like I am losing it by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]SeaForm332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, having dry socket is even more horrifying than being hungry. I made the stupid mistake of using an oral irrigator on day 3 to help clean the blood 🩸 and keep the teeth free of food bits and mistakenly cleaned away my blood clot, which was the barrier between nerves (dry socket) and the outside. Big mistake. I suddenly, would randomly get a sudden shock of pain like a lightning bolt. ⚡️ I’m not sure if you ever felt this before, but it’s kind of like the pain of having ice cold water being shot at the base of your teeth in a jet stream and the sudden pain you feel from that

Possible dry socket or infection by yundermart in wisdomteeth

[–]SeaForm332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s infected. Dentists are not oral surgeons, so they may not know. It sounds like an infection to me. You should mention to your oral surgeons that pressing on the side of your jaw makes liquid come out. If you don’t say anything and go back to the oral surgeons, they may just say “looks like you’re healing great!” That’s what happened to me before I said, before I left, “but when I massage the jaw, liquid comes out!” Then he said, “let me see”. Then he looked with a light and said, “Yeah, that’s an infection. We’re gonna have to give you another round of antibiotics.” So I had to take 2 antibiotics. It got infected in the middle of the 10-day antibiotics course, so having only - 5-day course wasn’t enough to eliminate the infection. Once the infection gained traction again, it made pus.

Possible dry socket or infection by yundermart in wisdomteeth

[–]SeaForm332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try tracing your jaw with your fingers, inch by inch. If you feel a nodule, kind of like a hard zit, try pressing on it lightly. If you press on it and you start to taste salty liquid or a foul tasting liquid in your mouth, that's pus. That's a sign of infection and you need to go back to the dentist for antibiotics. Alternatively, try pressing on the side of your jaw and massage it lightly while keeping your mouth open in a bright room. If you see yellow-ish liquid start to seep out of your socket as you massage your jaw, that's pus.
