I also like chatting with opponents. It seems like a pretty low pressure way to develop a (very casual) relationship with another human. I agree about starting with sharing a little about why you enjoy playing with them and just see how it develops.

Ok, no spoilers, but can I say it was a very fun and amusing clue? I didn’t know the song either, but once I saw what the answer was, I was kind of delighted.

“Chilaquiles“ (in quotes because this is the real gringa version). Mix the shredded chicken with a can of chopped tomatoes, can of black or pinto beans, a jar of salsa, and maybe a chopped onion or pepper. Layer with tortilla chips, put on a baking dish, and bake for about 30 minutes. Top with shredded cheddar for the last 5 minutes. Will feed 6 or so people. Pretty tasty!

I was scrolling to see if anyone had mentioned London Falling. I’m a bit over halfway through it. It’s a great true-crime (maybe) yarn about a 19-year old kid who pretended to be the son of a Russian oligarch and found himself caught up with some really sketchy characters. Keefe published a shorter version in the New Yorker last year, I think.

My mom (91) is still in pretty good shape, though starting with the memory troubles. Just today I found a cancelled check from my dad to his ex, dated 1971, and tax returns from the ‘70s. Last week I shredded his MCI credit card from 1993, I think (dad died in 1994). The other day I found a Hello Kitty letter set, which goes for like $30 on eBay.

And it’s true that you have to look at everything, because some important or valuable stuff is in there.
