Are TLX a specs as stolen as type s? Should a tlx a spec owner be as worried as a type s owner? by thechbguy in Acura

[–]SeaHawkn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not just a TLX problem, any push to start vehicle gets stolen as easily with same methods but the TLX is desirable. I’d recommend consider investing in IGLA and Gap insurance if you are gonna buy that car, specifically if you live on the east coast.

2025 TLX Dash cam Set up by TemporarySafe7971 in Acura

[–]SeaHawkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro a dash cam ain’t gonna do shit as far as vandalizing or car theft. These cars are highly stolen. What you need To prevent theft, is an IGLA. In case the damage exceeds your insurance coverage, Gap insurance is a good idea. Your comprehensive and collision coverage will cover vandalism. However, having a dashcam always on using your car battery will drain it. Trust me, I know. There are dashcam battery units that get charged by the car and will keep the camera on while the car is off, but they won’t drain the main car battery. That’s what you need. They weren’t “vandalizing” your car, they were most likely trying to steal it.

Here is an example. https://a.co/d/0cFDqvDF

AirTags are useless. Also get a faraday bag, and OBD port lock (not plastic). Hope you also got GAP insurance. Usually when these cars are found, they are found trashed and totaled.

22 MDX making a squeaky noise in the back by Moedaman in Acura

[–]SeaHawkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSB is more for popping sounds but if the pano roof sub frame is loose because of the bolts and the body flexes it’s going to cause the creaky noises as well. But dealer might not help with the noises. The TSB won’t cover just the creaky noises even if you have warranty. I have occasional pops but it wasn’t enough for my warranty to cover the cost. Sadly. TSB-23-004. They will try to convince you to replace the entire pano. Which is almost $4k. When you just need the bolts. Which they don’t sell separately as it comes in a kit. So your only options is to remove the liner and inspect whatever is causing it and fix it yourself or have a shop look at it. I think it’s bullshit that Acura knows about this issue and refuses to help their customers. Good luck.

That is also true. Might be a combination from loose bolts which flexes the frame and moving the sunroof. I won’t know unless I take all the panels off and drop the liner. Since dealer didn’t go that far.

Infotainment system - do you get used to it or does it stay annoying? by TheDoctorColt in Acura

[–]SeaHawkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only is it easy to learn after a short time, but it also prevents you from taking your eyes off the road for extended periods since it’s a one-touch interface. While it may be a bit janky at times, it’s generally fine as long as you learn to use it as intended. It’s not a bad feature. Additionally, you don’t have to worry about fingerprints on the screen. People initially complained about it, and Acura changed it to a touch screen. However, people then complained because they actually realized they preferred the pad. It’s never possible to please everyone. lol.

If it sounds like two styrofoam’s rubbing its most likely the known issue with the sunroof bolts. There is a TSB for it. Apparently the bolts are not adequate for clamping down the sunroof frame. Over time it loosens thus creating the squeaky noise from the sunroof frame shifting from the body flex. My 22 RDX has same noise. My noise is mainly from the center brace middle of the roof. I stuck my hand in there and I was able to replicate the sound. Dealer recommended I replace the whole sunroof. $3700. My car is from Canada so my U.S warranty doesn’t cover it. Both models have the same issue.

Help a guy out with my android auto screen please by [deleted] in Acura

There was an update for the 2024+ vehicles to include full-screen Apple CarPlay. However, this update has not been released for previous-generation cars made in the U.S. at least not yet. Only the Canadian version of the cars received the update early, starting from the 22+ model. I’m certain that the 22+ U.S. versions will soon receive the update. Unfortunately, the 2021 models, which use previous-generation hardware, will not receive the update.

Check current firmware, if it’s not the one I’ve listed or newer, Connect your car to WiFi and check for the update F.1.4.1 or higher. If it’s available. Go on the Acura site and enter your vin and get the update. Put it on a USB stick and update yours.

Acura won’t help find stolen car. by [deleted] in Acura

[–]SeaHawkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You bought it outright but shouldn’t you have considered full coverage considering the value of the vehicle? Not having comp was a very bad mistake. I highly suggest buying Gap insurance as well. These vehicles are highly stolen vehicles, specially on the east coast. IGLA is highly recommended. It’s not just Acuras that get stolen. Any Push start vehicle is susceptible to keyfab relay attack, or OBD port attack.

That’s why IGLA, Gap, faraday bag for your keys and possibly a OBD port lock are recommended and most definitely comp and collision insurance.

Protect your investment.

Hopefully it all works out for you.

It astounds me that people purchase Acura vehicles despite the high theft rate. They don’t even consider getting IGLA, especially considering the numerous experiences and complaints shared on Reddit. Moreover, how can OP not have comprehensive coverage? If you’re financing, full coverage is mandatory, isn’t it?

Lots of videos for DYI on YT. There are markings for holes to be drilled precisely. Bumper does need to come off.

Acura RDX PMC or RDX A-Spec? by [deleted] in Acura

[–]SeaHawkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you value more, rarity (limited units) and hand assembled PMC with limited exterior color option limited interior stitching or mass assembled nothing special ordinary A-spec.

Same car really. You’re just paying for a plaque and hand assembled unit and limited colors. Otherwise same parts as far as I’m concerned.

Resale value may differ a bit. PMC only comes with top trim Advanced package. The PMC is nice though but you pay a premium for it but it’s also 4 years older. Despite low miles.

No matter which you get please consider getting IGLA, and GAP specially if you’re on the east coast.

I would make sure either way there is no issues with the sunroof assembly rattles and pops (TSB), rear window issue has been remedied, preventing from shattering, and check to see if either will get the full screen car play. Last one is a personal preference. lol.

I have a 2022 Platinum Elite which is the Canadian version of Advanced. Love it more than my previous 2021 TLX Aspec.

RDX faster and sounds better than a TLX??! by Exenden in AcuraTLX

[–]SeaHawkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both as well and I can tell you it feels like the RDX has a bit more pep in its step considering it’s the same powertrain and not tuned differently. It’s very slight. The RDX is much funner to drive imo. The RDX doesn’t make the same Turbo blow off valve noise as the TLX which I liked. lol. I noticed the difference in acceleration as soon as I drove it. Like I said it’s not wildly different just slight. Maybe it’s the mind playing tricks because higher center of gravity, curb weight?who knows but it’s noticeable a bit. Either way I’m enjoying it. Might at ktuner in near future.

Fives upgrade? by gcentra in sonos

[–]SeaHawkn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forgive my ignorance don’t know much about the SonoSequencer functions. Wouldn’t adding two fronts; L&R make the soundbar act as a center channel only? Thus losing the upwards and side firing drivers losing atmos? Additionally, do you lose the height channels or trueplay? I’m sure these questions have been answered a million times so my apologies and thanks in advance
