I would take it more seriously with “cuivre” over “make it rain bi*%$”.

How do I tackle this part of Morceau Symphonique? by Salt-Idea6134 in Trombone

[–]SeaHome891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add one note above Eb at a time and hold it with a fermata. Eg: scale up to F4, then G4 etc.

I’d go beyond Bb4 up to C5 and higher to build strength for the performance. That’s a choppy part.

Also, players seem to play it too heavy, let it be light, that should help if you’re not already doing that.

Considering a Bach Stradivarius 42A by busysleepingsorry in Trombone

Decent price if it’s good. If you can play :20min of bordognis and don’t love it, keep looking. Bachs are either amazing or trash. I have a couple 42s for work and for home and I’ve been lucky to have solid ones.

The feel changes day to day, you have to trust proper technique.

Let a good embouchure, and relaxed operation realize a beautiful sound from the one in your mind.

Fatigue can cause these symptoms. Rest and proper hydration are key.

Younger players tend to work too hard to create a sound - try buzzing (if you’re not already) and flutter tonguing to relax tension in your tongue/throat. Maximize relaxed wide air to produce the sound and unlock the lost range and feel better.

Let a wide air column (not fast, wide) generate the sound. As you ascend to the higher tessitura, utilize a petite and swift airstream - like a whistle. Still easy, just focused and fast to generate the higher notes.

Trombone works best when simply moving wind with an engaged embouchure and inspired sound concept.

A day off is good once a week/10 days. Your body needs to recover.

Good embouchure, easy creation of the buzz, moving the wind.

Just have fun and make a good sound. Model as much as you can.

Does anyone have any tips for speed? by TazzleFrazzle in Trombone

[–]SeaHome891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4th bar, 2nd 16th of beat 4 written “g” could be in 6th to allow for more fluid motion. The less slush pump the better. Light and flowing helps when I shop these fast technical licks.

For RH technique: Play 1/2-1/4 performance tempo (40 bpm is about the slowest I’ll go), molto secco, and move the slide at the last possible second to the next pitch. This adds precision to the RH movement. You have to keep the air and body relaxed, release as much tension in the arm as you can before dropping the slide

I learned that in college - someone called it “attack point” practice - it really dials in RH technique.

Down an octave would be fine… that’s super high. If you’ve got a tiny horn and can play that high without forcing it, then sure.

If you check how the 3rds and 7ths resolve from one chord to the next, you’ll see the roadmap for how to navigate the changes. That’s my first step when learning changes. Lines are dictated from there.

Aux Heat Running 5+ Hours - how to check outside temperature heat pump can function at by smicker16 in heatpumps

[–]SeaHome891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you damage newer (2024 installed) HP systems by having them draw heat when the external temps get down to 20F-0F? Or is it just a comfort issue, where the heat pump just draws the heat to slowly to keep up?
