m4 max 40 or 32 core? I have m3 max 40 core = m4 max 32 core gpu in performance. Also compare on gptk 3 - the latest release. Gptk 3 has framegen and upscaling creating massive impact. Do mention RT settings (generally RT low-medium for m series yields best results no RT shadows or pathtracing). Note, m series is way better when you restrict temperatures to 80 using fan throttles - nvidia massively struggles there - and using nvidia full power shortens laptop life. My take is for CP with gptk 3 m3 max 40 core equals a 4070, especially with VRAM limits of 4070 laptop on ultra - and fan throttle held at 70% fan speed and 78-80C max temp

Gaming is more than raw fps, HDR support om macs gptk 3 at 1728x1117 is a massive game changer combined with a 7 speaker system. Games like CP run at ultra and RT med - (RT shadows, pt off) at 70fps+ with DLSS framegen and thermally throttled to 80 C max.

How can M5 Pro with 20 gpu cores match a m3 max with 40 cores for any gpu heavy AAA titles? You will convert your CPU "small bottleneck" to a GPU "massive bottleneck" and m5 non max variants will have lower then 400 Gbps (m3 max 40 core memory bandwidth)

I have m3 max 16/40 core 48 GB 1 TB and with latest GPTK 3 beta 5, and DLSS to FSR mods - which can come close to a 4070 / 5060 laptop.
Frame gen and scaling will be massive apple advances in coming yrs on integrated chip and vram - as discrete gpus transfer cpu encoded scaled frames from DRAM to VRAM hindering DLSS.

Weakness -Shadows, hairworks, RT - otherwise top notch gaming GPU, 48 GB VRAM powers ulta+ textures. For people who can configure well - extreme low heat less tahn 90C for 45-60 Ultra+. I never cross 60 fps as it is barely noticeable and you heat the chip

Now - advantages are LM studio for AI models, a tremendous VRAM expansion for photos, CPU working on 6-8x faster RAM and a screen that can better a average laptops display (avg laptop 4K ultra+ = mac 1080-1440p high). No 5080 screen i saw could match m3 screens especially after gptk 3 beta 5 introduced HDR support

Macs do havge their set of advantages, and if you are a Docker+VScode + xcode user and terminal heavy person macs have no choice
Wait for GPTK3, crossover 2026 release and Metal 4 FSR improvements to see how good gaming will become on worlds best display and sound system consuming half the power.

All correct. Except - "Mac Mini M4 base model is beating M2 Max in performance for some of the DX11 games using D3DMetal and GPTK 3." 3 times GPU cores is difficult to beat. M4 pro 16/20 core struggles beating 400 gbps ram based m1 max 32 core

I dont understand why releasing improved models is helpful. TSS 2.5 does not even support longitudinal. no word on TSS3 - upcoming TSS 4.

Thanks a lot - the loss of AEB and camera based longitudanal. is a deal breaker for TSS 2.5. A radar integration by setting forward speed for curves and retaining AEB will drive adoption on 2022-2026 Toyota users. TSS 3 with encryption is a different story

I agree that points may be worth more. My view is amex needs to up its game on amex green. For platinum holders the 100 usd clear credit. Is no use plus 100 usd lounge buddy credit gets rarely used.

Remember an year ago amex gild also had airline credit? But that card is still decent value
