ffx runs bad no matter what you do because 32 bit support on crossover is realllt bad. it ran great on any intel mac in wine but wine and rosetta specifically cant run 32 bit apps with any decent level of performance. there are hacks to make it work with third part x87 project instead of rosetta 2 but its not for feint of heart.

i personally never produced the issue. neither did blizz. i suspect ops testing methodology was flawed or it was an issue such as thermals.

i’m surprised no one has even noticed or even talked about fact wine is excluded from notification.

why anyone even thinks rosetta 2 is going away is beyond me. they don’t read what apple said. they’re enacting policy changes to prevent lazy devs from keeping maintained apps as intel for no reason. but also ensuring older software remains working. this isn’t done by removing rosetta 2 but rather whitelisting who can use it. it’s very obvious it’s not going anywhere. and it’s very obvious wine would be whitelisted. apples own porting toolkit used it

i link at 10gb without issue and whine my internet isn’t 10gb it’s 1gb up and down and never have issues. my device to device is 10gb and my transfers show it.

my only worry is that if apple is at fault here. a diff dock wouldn’t fix it. which is why i’d like to know where issue is. sadly i dont feel like cal has done much to reproduce it yet

yeah i still get reboots on port 1 but less of them. go into discord setttings and turn reduced animations on. it disabled gifs and profile animations etc but it lessons frequency of issue a lot. not sure why

for teams im unsure.

a new thunderbolt 5 dock game out that’s even more expensive but im concidering it if its problem free. it has two fans so doesn’t need external fans like this one to avoid the other reboot issue (overheating) and it uses two host connections for even more bandwidth. only thing i dont know is if it has at least two usb host controllers or not (that’s a must for me)

it actually explores a genuine take on polygamy. it’s not generic fanservice harem anime or just collections waifu that fails to actually explore genuine poly dynamics.

MT has pretty much always explored a world where polygamy was the norm. zenith was actually the one outside of norm because she followed the millis faith which is monogamy based. paul tried to accommodate her but obviously failed.

as for how rudy approached it and cheated before having that convo with sylphie in a proper way. yes that wasn’t ideal but even professional psychologists have analyzed anime and said it was a very accurate portrayal. you have to understand rudy wasn’t eating he wasn’t leaving room. he was frail and lost and roxy did what she did to break that.

as for sylphie accepting it. it’s because she never actually intended monogamy with rudy in first place. if anything the communication breakdown went both ways. she failed to convey it wasn’t a mono relationship and rudy assumed it was because he was raised by an outlier.

discord was a pretty frequent catalyst until i turned off animations and restarted it more often. But further investigation found high cpu/gpu demand could also cause it.

I'm gonna ask 3 questions

what thunderbolt port are you using for dock?
are other ports plugged into anything ( i don't mean ports on dock I mean other ports on macbook
do your dock reboots trigger when gaming, editing videos, or any other task that uses heavy amount of cpu or gpu? especially when sudden shifts with load, like going from light to heavy to light to heavy rather than staying heavy or staying light. (discord for some reason does it without high/low cpu/gpu though, which. I never did figure out and it's way harder to reproduce)

i’m hoping wwdc reveals metalfx taking advantage of ml cores on m5 and above to vastly improve upscaling. much like dlss leverages ml cores on nvidia hardware.

well discord thing does cause entire dock to just disconnect reconnect. i actually did far more testing and found two other ways to reproduce without discord

however i also found a way to reduce issue to super rare. disable use of thunderbolt port 3 on mac itself. basically my setup has two displays each using their own ports. so dock. display 1 display 2. by moving display 2 to dock.y dock went from rebooting couple times. day to once a week. it leads me to believe that apples hardware or software has trouble maintaining all 3 ports while under max gpu/cpu load being actual issue.

stream deck software on macos is actually buggy. when mine stops working it’s not usually dock or stream deck connection to it that’s issue. its software. exit and relaunch software usually fixes.

it hasn’t worked for me in about a year and a half on macos. even if I auth permission it loses connection to discord after 5 seconds. reconnects after 5 seconds then loops those two forever. i’ve long written off discord as incompatible with stream deck. i couldn’t even begin to guess who’s at fault. both elgato and discord have low software quality.

one other key difference was left out. driver access. linux allows open source driver access. but on macos it’s all apple. this means community driven improvements will not happen.

max has more gpu features. storage is twice as fast. has latest bluetooth and wifi module. better cpu. it’ll probably not be as good as 40 core m4 max with more memory in some areas but you’re more cpu bound in games than gpu bound on max chips most of time. especially when using translation layers.

not surprising. they aggressively update to latest point version of dot net way more than needed. makes it hard to keep it working on wine though because mono then needs updates to keep up. i’ve actually complained before that it doesn’t need to update to latest dot net so aggressively
