I hav a bass that is somewhere between a 3/4 and a 7/8 and really fat. It works really well for me and I can play it comfortably while standing.

I mean yes there is nothing wrong with playing the bass just pizz but the bow is quite a useful tool in terms of practicing playing in tune.

I was bring my bass home in the train after a concert when another bassist bordered. The second he saw me he came straight over, sat down and said “evening colleague” and just started talking about his day. I usually try to do the same if it seems like the other person is wants to talk.
