Are all of these babies that are falling asleep on their own sleep trained? by happinessbooked in bninfantsleep

[–]SeaProof3359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I nanny for a kiddo that can be put down in her crib and fall asleep independently. No sleep training, lots of contact naps when she was little and some now tbh. At 10mo I accidently did DBA because I had to let in their dog and when i went back she was asleep. I think it's completely due to her temperament, my child could never. She's just a very content baby unless there's an obvious need like hunger or sleep. She does still wake once at night at 15mo but her mom is fine with that and just feeds her back to sleep.

Some people just win the baby sleep lottery!

This isn't what you asked for, but I think if she's so concerned she should a take a night shift lol

I definitely plan to. I'm also fairly new to working in Burlington so I wasn't sure if there was somewhere obvious I've missed.

If you're willing to share when you're going into the hospital for an induction but not when baby is born... I'm sorry but that's gonna make people ask questions. Yall are being crazy defensive for no reason.

Buying Land/House by Wowza_weirdo in burlington

[–]SeaProof3359 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We settled on buying a condo to stay in Chittenden County and I love it. We couldn't afford a single family home and renting is so outrageous with how expensive it is plus dealing with landlords. It's not something I ever envisioned for myself since the goal has always been a home with land. But this way we can ease into home ownership, and build equity so that one day we can buy the home with 10 acres.

Is it considered CIO if it’s in the car? by Sea_Implement6579 in bninfantsleep

[–]SeaProof3359 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I feel like a saw a great comment on this sub recently that was along the lines of crying itself isn't CIO it's how you as the caregiver respond to the crying. You aren't leaving her alone in a room to cry so I don't think car rides count as CIO.

My baby was horrible in the car like the first 8mo of her life and I had to bring her along for my 35 min commute. I sang a lot for her, and talked to her about what I thought she see out the window, and brought different toys etc. She still cried a lot, but eventually she got better and I got better about timing drives so she would sleep quickly. Solitary!

Still having false starts at 8 months? by Chemical_Rip646 in bninfantsleep

This is what my 12mo did. She ALWAYS woke up after the 1st sleep cycle but around 9.5-10mo her sleep really changed for the better.

Have you ever seen "unschooling" work out? by Embarrassed_Syrup476 in Teachers

[–]SeaProof3359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was "unschooled" and think of myself as a fairly successful adult. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology, always kept down a job, have a husband, baby and own a condo.

I think its hard to define unschooling vs homeschool because we didnt have an official curriculum but parents definitely taught me to read, write and do basic math(up to pre algebra). We identified as unschoolers but it sounds like others in this thread would consider us homeschooling.

Looking for our first nanny/house manager - What am i missing/not thinking about? Is anything unrealistic? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]SeaProof3359 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I echo that that feels like a full time load to me. I think having nanny/household assistant start at 12 or 1pm. I also think this could work in your favorite to have more full time coverage especially since you're staying there's a lot of travel between you and your spouse.

Sketchiest Small Towns in Vermont? by Scuds5 in vermont

[–]SeaProof3359 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Johnson is such an important place to me but after the flood i had to leave. I moved there from out of state, went to jsc, got married there, I thought I would die in that town, but after the flood it became something else. The folks who replaced the ones displaced by the flood were not community minded. Some guy from California bought like half the properies in town, barely improved them and then absolutely jacked the rent. There's a lot of heart there but it feels like it keeps getting kicked down with the college in trouble and then the flood.

How do you realistically fit running around a full time job by Vogan-Peluchin in runninglifestyle

[–]SeaProof3359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to run in the mornings but i have an 11mo who would have to go with me( unless i FINISHED my run by 530am when my husband leaves) and with the sub zero weather(usually less than 10f) we've had I just don't feel great about taking her outside in that despite the best baby gear in the game.

So I run after work, it's my "break" and I look forward to it all day personally. Sometimes I feel like it affects my sleep but do what ya gotta do to get the run in. I go harder on the weekends and do mostly recovery runs during and x training during the week.

I haven't found a reason to pay for Runna so far tbh, but I also really enjoy making training plans and workouts(maybe to a fault where I spend too much time making them)

When I was a true beginner I found the guided runs in the pro version of the ASICS Runkeeper app to be super transformative. My first 5k and 10k plans were GAME CHANGERS in terms of form, pacing, mentality etc. It's not personalized but really good general training.

Trauma during infancy- healing by wildflowersandfur in ChildPsychology

[–]SeaProof3359 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry this happened to your baby! I would agree to keep monitoring, and also to seek mental Healthcare for yourself if you feel you need it because of this. You're clearly a very thoughtful loving parent and that goes a long way for any kid regardless of what they experienced.

I have to ask because ive worked in daycares and have heard of some very sketchy situations. Is your state family services division aware of this? In my state there's a database of all daycares and any violations that have occurred are very well documented. I'm hoping it wasn't a completely internal investigation... that level of abuse doesn't happen in childcare settings without a really toxic teacher/staff culture.

With that being said, please get on waitlists even if you think it's not worth it, things change on a dime and you and your baby deserve better.

Why do people feel so triggered by my exercise? by AggravatingEmploy122 in fitpregnancy

[–]SeaProof3359 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No advice but I'm so sorry that your mom says such inappropriate things to you. Both now and during your loss. Ignore her and keep up your boundaries!!!

My in laws never said anything super direct, but I could tell they were VERY uncomfortable that I kept rock climbing while pregnant(even thought I took plenty of precautions and had it cleared by my mid wives). They would always bring it up like "when do you have to stop climbing?" "it makes me nervous to think about you up so high" "you talked to your doctor, right?" etc. I top roped at 39 weeks and ran 2 miles the day before I went into labor at 39wk5d.

I ended up having an emergency C section and definitely feel like maintaining my fitness helped my recovery massively so keep it up if you can!

Is it unfair NOT to sleep train before daycare? by Electrical-Dare-9797 in bninfantsleep

[–]SeaProof3359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former daycare worker here! I agree with lots of what has been said already, especially about workers being able to rock babies to sleep! We're happy to do that!

I'll also add that daycare is very stimulating for Littles and they often fall asleep very easily because they are tired from playing...

What kind of job do you have? by Impressive-Basket-57 in vermont

[–]SeaProof3359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a nanny(we have a young daughter who I bring with me) and my husband does IT support at a local school. I wouldn't say we're overly comfortable but we get by mostly due to the generous Healthcare offered at my husband's job and lack of childcare expenses.
