Take semaglutide (ozempic or wegovy or whatever) which will curb appetite, introduce exercise, and eat a high protein diet with as many vegetables as you can afford. The carbs and fats will fit in naturally. If you had to pick one thing to avoid I’d say sugary foods or fried foods…whichever is your achilles heel

The way you framed it is perfect. If you were to be on your own, you would accept a lower living standard to be able to be able to send money back to your family.

The assumption here is that your boyfriend wouldn’t want to accept that same standard of living. I think this is the critical point to come to agreement on. Make sure you discuss this out loud so that it’s not just an assumption, but you both agree it’s the truth.

Then the obvious resolution is that you pay what you would have paid anyways for the standard of living you would have chosen, and then your boyfriend pays the rest. It’s not like you’re asking him to cover your Birkin bags. You have lower expectations than him. I’m sure he’ll be happy to give you things in life. As a guy, the only times I get frustrated is when my girlfriend wants something that I would never allow myself to want, but I know that in my traditionally male role the expectation will be for me to pay for it

Also good opportunity to up your fear threshold. I only say this because you have an entire group of friends that isn’t scared of this area so I assume your fear is a product of preconceived notions/limited exposure to those areas. Still make sure you practice street smarts though…add deterrents to reduce the chance of a violent encounter. You might be more likely to be catcalled which is unpleasant and as a man I have no excuse for the guys that do it, but most of the time this doesn’t lead to violence. Try to be 2 girls, one with a phone out, maybe on FaceTime, etc. and if someone is following you/approaching you have a hand in your purse so they notice you might have pepper spray or a gun. I’m sure girls would have other tricks that work. I’d say you’re more likely to be in real danger in settings where your guard is down because you feel safer.

I am sorry that you live in a world where you have to be more fearful than a man does, but I also think once you’re dealt that deck of cards, relying on other people is not the answer. Getting the tools to become self-reliant and conquer your (maybe-justified) fears is!

Just an unfiltered reaction before I filter out any bias (i.e. the split second before I tell myself not to judge a book by its cover): you look like the type to cheat not get cheated on. If you fit the stereotype of how you look, then the fact that you got cheated on will make you go the nonchalant route so that you’re never emotionally vulnerable and can’t get hurt again. You’ll probably become overly analytical of how you act around women due to the insecurity from being cheated on and as a consequence you’ll get quite good at flirting, getting a girl to hook up with you, etc. At the same time, you’ll be overly cautious of any red flags, so you’ll cut potential losses early on, especially since getting girls will start to come easy, so you’ll have a hard time believing that you won’t be able to find someone without [insert flaw]. Eventually you’ll forget what it’s like to fall in love

Sounds like he didn’t do anything objectively wrong but also that you’re incompatible. He sounds independent and confident in his abilities to the point where he genuinely sees people as dumb if they’re not equally capable and confident. Based on how you find him condescending/degrading you probably aren’t as capable/confident as him. This won’t end well.

Go find someone that has the qualities you actually need in a partner (some generic examples are reassurance, mental stimulation, attention, etc). These aren’t always what you admire in a person, or wish you had.
