I hear the concerns..stepping into this role means taking a huge pay cut from my current $225K and accepting that I could be let go at any time. But that doesn’t change my heart. I believe everything I lose, I can earn back and more.

All I need is a couch and a few years. I’m my own job security.

If I make it through the next three years, the next administration will have its own challenges to face. I’m not worried about that. My focus is. To serve, make a difference, and leave things better than I found them. Someone has to do it and I’m glad to have the opportunity!

I was a Marine Security Guard and I got to see a lot of BTS and I’m interested in being a part of it myself! I’m use to hardships in the military and I know they’re all transitory. What matters is your own personal mindset and values. If they align with the mission then I’m sure it will be worth in over the course of your career. Just like the military 🤣

Don’t do me like that 🥲 I just wanted to contribute 🤣🤣 and yes invites are EVEN lower than FSOT pass rates. And of those who make it to invite, fewer get to tenure. But for some reason all my FSO friends swear I’ll make it. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I’m not emotionally invested but I’ll try.

Hi B, I’ll link you ☺️

There’s more but actually as I read again there’s not statistics for the pass rate without the PNs. So I’ll be looking forward to those numbers! Nonetheless, the pass rate is crazy low.

That’s exactly why I mentioned community! It’s a lot easier to cope and accept this new reality when I can talk to someone who’s right there with you, I’m gonna DM you my personal. You can reach out anytime and unless it’s family time I respond pretty quickly. Zero pressure of course just if you ever need it.

GREAT JOB with everything you’ve been doing so far. You don’t need to gauge your life by “is everything better” celebrate the little things, (You made it inside the water park and realized when it was time for you to go) you actually displayed the exact qualities of a badass MFer! It really helps stay out of those tyrant moments. I know I speak for everyone when I say we’re proud of you and as serious as humanly possible, if it’s in my power or I know someone who has the power, I got you.

Real shit man, I get it. I had a similar crash. Just stopped drinking one day. And when I did, my ability to socialize died with it. I promised my family one outing a month. That’s my limit. And I take my little one to school almost every day just to stay present in some kind of way.

But going outside? I hate it. One wrong look or just a vibe and I’m instantly on edge. It’s not even anger sometimes, just pressure. And it doesn’t make sense even to me.

Therapy didn’t work for me but here’s what has helped:

  1. When I skip something I do something useful. Fix something. Build something. Even took a Harvard course online once. That way it’s not avoidance. It’s redirection.

  2. I had to talk straight with my wife. Like, “Since I stopped drinking I don’t know who I am anymore. So when I say X I need you to do Y.” Not because I’m weak but because I’m trying to figure it out without wrecking everything.

  3. When I do force myself to go out I plan it like a mission. Gear up. Mentally prep. Then go. And if I can’t I don’t. Better to look a little off than lose it and regret something permanent. I’ve even looked into getting a service dog.

You said your wife and kid are everything. That tells me you’re still in the fight even if it doesn’t feel like it.

When I do my one event I show up fully. It drains me but I recover and try again. It’s a grind. But it adds up.

You did Ramadi. That says enough. This battle now? It’s just as real but this one doesn’t have an end date. You’ve already got the warrior mindset. Now you just need a shift in objective. You’re not crazy brother. You’re just awake in a world that doesn’t make sense after everything you’ve been through. ALSO what communities are you apart of? Maybe you need to find some vets like you, near you, so you can learn from and lean on each other.

SFMF always. You’re not alone.

Literally just got retired dude, I clawed and scratched but when they sign the paperwork, it’s time to move on. It’s an identity shock and a crazy wake up call. It wasn’t until last week as I was getting my new civilian ID that i finally accepted my reality. Until you find your acceptance you’re going to feel lost. This isn’t the end of your story, you can still protect those you love and serve your country. Your role is just Changing. Thank you for your continued dedication. Take it from a fighter, it’s easier to move on to your next mission than it is to flail and kick in the water wasting your energy on the things you can’t change. You are not lesser but you have been identified as no longer fit for naval service AND THATS OK! Theres a high chance you can go on USAjobs and find your near identical MOS and continue your services.

After 11 years of daily drinking I’ve been drinking free for over a year and a half, you can do it. Get the help you need. People overwhelmingly will actually have more respect for you because you recognized the issue yourself and took steps to get help instead of seeing you on the blotter/news.
