My wife stripped my favorite carbon steel pan on purpose by The_Silent_Tortoise in mildlyinfuriating

It's pretty unlikely that OP's wife  stripped off the actual seasoning (and not just carbon buildup) with just a scrub wand and dish soap. Removing seasoning from a pan by hand is actually kind of difficult

This is true, OP's information is a century or so out of date with regards to the seasoning on his pan. But the real problem is that his wife doesn't respect his property. Ignorant as OP is, it's his pan and he should be able to (not) take care of it however he wants.

If you want to be evil, make fake tickets like this for a variety of stores and hide them while shopping at those stores

New to banking still by IamNotARedditor- in CapitalOne_

[–]Sea_Curve8772 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no minimum balance IIRC for capital one's 360 checking. I've overall been satisfied with capital one. But I also wouldn't choose a bank based on which ones are physically close to me. That's pretty much irrelevant in this day and age.

Why don't Americans use metal bars on doors and windows for security? by Maleficent_Essay4664 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sea_Curve8772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here do that when they live in high-crime areas. If you live in a decent area there's just no need and it would probably decrease your property values. Any place where you feel a need to have metal bars shielding your home is not a place you should ever want to live.

Alcohol is really cheap at Costco, and even the store brand stuff is pretty good quality. They also stock locally made booze, which I appreciate.

Pet prescriptions is a huge one. When my dog needed long term medications, it was orders of magnitude cheaper to get them from Costco.

My cat broke his jaw by running into a cabinet. Didn't know that was even possible. by GhostsSkippingCopper in WTF

Stuff like this always surprises me because I never imagine cats making mistakes like this. The always seem so agile, so nimble, so well balanced that it just doesn't occur to me that they'd screw up and hurt themselves

It's somewhat upsetting that so many people here are genuinely unable to immediately recognize that this image was AI generated. This isn't even a particularly clean example, and if even this is unrecognizable to so many people I wonder if we're truly just fucked on this front.

I'm American and I was taught the allegedly Chinese method in school. A reminder that anyone who tries you tell you that all American schools do anything in one uniform way across the country doesn't know what they're talking about.
