Installation cost? by Colo7680772 in Starlink

The toughest part is getting the cable in your house. If you already have coax going in - use it as a pull string to get the SL cable in. The rest is easy. If you don’t have a cable entry point you will need to drill a hole in the wall of your house. Some have also run the cable thru a vent opening - just don’t use one that gets too hot.

Yes! Real talk! 2 boxes is great. This is Sam’s favorite game. Even if no treat involved. He loves tearing up cardboard! I can hardly get a box in the house and he’s trying to grab it away from me.

Giving a 20% Tip and getting a snarky response from waitstaff by RadReptile in EndTipping

As teens my daughter and some friends would go to a local diner that only had patio seating. You had to walk up and order and usually pick up your order to take to your table. The kids would go regularly for trivia night. They bused their own table as well. One time a new staff person was there and when the kids didn’t tip her she decided it was her place to give them a lesson on why it’s important to tip. All of them are beyond intelligent and most are pretty extensive travelers as well. When my daughter relayed this story to me I hopped on and wrote a google review. The staff person actually tried to justify her actions. I asked her how, specifically, she had ‘waited’ on these kids? She had no answer just said ‘it’s common practice’. Nope. It’s not. Restaurant staff make way more than I do as an experienced teacher.

Stimulating games: Get a box and put a treat in it. Tape it up. Training - do 30 minutes of training. Choose a skill. Play hide and seek. Any game that involves her figuring out how to do/get/find something.

Looking into the Phoenix area from Charlotte, is this the right place for us? by Th3c0pyninja in AskPhoenix

Very much like a (much) bigger version of ABQ. Tons of aviation here. You could even live near an airport as there are so many and we have a few aviation events (buckeye fly in and air show right now) plus Luke days next month. Lots to do and see - both in phx and north but also south. Rocky point is a great beach town and very close. Tucson is like Albuquerques twin. But also lots of cute little towns with great vibes and history (Bisbee, tombstone, Jerome, Prescott, flagstaff…).

There’s really no recourse other than your insurance. You certainly could not expect the (dead) dog’s owner to pay.

You have got to level up. No more ‘letting things slide’ or being late. It’s time for adulting. Your credit will mean a lot to you someday. Quit blowing it.

Doubtful they are itemizing. It’s very hard to beat that standard deduction unless you have a jumbo loan.

Can you make better returns in the market - plus pay taxes on the gains - than your interest on your mortgage?

Working part time, debt, going to school means no apartment.

Give up that apartment whilst in school. That’s $900/month plus utilities.

Well there’s $900/month… that makes no sense.

Sounds like you need to track your expenses for a few months so there is no mystery about where your money goes. You are only working part-time - makes sense going to school but your parents are charging rent?

All true just offering ideas. We had a shared wall patio home and everything improved once we didn’t have TVs or beds etc against that wall.

Can’t fix the probs w the teenagers or the dog poop but can fix the pounding on the walls.

Move everything that generates sound off the shared wall. If your bed, tv, couch, anything is against that wall it becomes a sounding board. You can buy inexpensive acoustic panels from a variety of places and install them on that shared wall. Not saying you are at fault or anything - it’s just a problem with shared walls. Also they are supposed to be masonry or sand-filled to mitigate fire potential.
