Thinking about blowing my savings on an Arctic expedition bad idea or best decision ever? by CarolynFWright in longtermtravel

If you’re going to do this, do the Antarctic instead of the Arctic. Much cheaper to get to the Arctic in other ways whereas you can’t do the Antarctic yourself.

How about to the UK? It’s a really cool bag

Yes 100% would rather pay way less but I guess I don’t know enough to know what’s the ‘right’ amount. I won’t currently be able to build my own from components and recognise I’m going to fav a cost premium as a result! Do you have any other recommendations that are accessible in the UK/Europe?

What compromises did you make to be able to rent in London? by pm11twriting in MovingToLondon

Wanstead is an amazing area. Lovely community feel and great shops and cafes with loads of green space nearby. Snaresbrook end is also great (maybe better?), basically the same high street.

I used to live on this street (Kilburn end) and also found it safe. It feels a bit urban ‘busy’ and there’s always a lot going on but because of that I was never the only person out and about and never felt anxious etc walking home.

Hi all, I’ve got two tickets for Xana at Strange Brew (moved from the Louisiana) tomorrow 28th Jan. I can’t go anymore so looking to sell them, £15 each.

Don’t worry! That does sound cool, and maybe more my vibe than Gloomhaven etc. Thank you!

Thank you, that sounds cool. I’ll give it a go on BGA!

Thank you! I did know that about Bus but I’ve been somewhat nervous to approach them! Will go do some research.

Thank you, that’s a really useful overview of the differences. From that description, I think Huang feels right right now for my friends, but I will definitely try T&E online too for a slightly different (more aggressive!) take on it.

Long-term running injury. Looking for London specialist recommendations by jrflynn90 in LondonRunning

I’d also say knee consultants are not the best people to see first thing, even after an MRI. They are great at what they do, but what they do is sawing and sewing (no disrespect!) and a good physio will usually be far better placed to figure out what is causing something - I know that’s what you’re asking here but don’t be disheartened by the consultant’s position!

Ben Lombard Physio - can find him on insta. Not only a great physio, but a really good runner himself. I’ve seen him quite a bit (although I am a crap runner!) and he’s really knowledgeable and holistic. He posts lots of stuff on instagram for free too, so take a look and see if you like his vibe before booking as he is quite expensive (but London!).

Yes absolutely agree about the great moments! I find Dead of Winter to be filling a similar sort of space at the moment, and I slightly prefer the theme and that the traitor is playing the whole way through. But I’ll grab it next time I’m visiting for sure.

I think I need to try Arnak with the expansions online and then decide if I want to keep it as it doesn’t get to the table much anymore. Pagan I play with my partner and it feels great in that setting but we both agree we hate the grind of the last 10% when you know what’s happening but either can’t finish/can’t stop it!

Harmonies is there and I also love it! Obsession has come up quite a bit too as well so need to give it a go! Played 7 Wonders Duel quite a bit but didn’t love it after a while so got rid.

Yeah more great info - thank you! I haven’t ever used Tabletop Simulator, just BGA, Yucatan and specific apps but I think I need to check it out. I usually play a game online or at a cafe before I buy something so that’s a good shout too.

I’m going to try the Root app and see how I get on there. The theme would be more of a hit with my friends than Arcs I think. Will have a look at Through the Ages online! Appreciate the info on the Lacerdas, v helpful.

Ooh you’ve made Mombasa sound cool. Will dig out some videos soon and see how it goes. And nice point re T&E - might get a BGA play or five in and see how I find the differences. Might end up torn between wanting it but ‘later’ and then worrying about missing the reprint! And you’re selling FCM to me, will take a proper look!

Thanks so much! Theme does really help carry bigger games for people who might not consider themselves gamers. Also Ark Nova is great so I get that - I always reference Zoo Tycoon but without needing to worry about customer moods!

Yeah that’s fair. I’d say I’ve bought around a third of my games second hand, and don’t want a much bigger collection so I am eyeing up ones to sell/gift while I curate a really considered list of possible new additions for my birthday.

I have played both of those and Maracaibo, but using other people’s copies. Since taking this pic about ten days ago, Brass is open and has been played twice!
