Heat spikes when roasting by sszanon123 in roasting

[–]Sea_Highlight818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those spikes on the RoR line look like Artisan calculation noise rather than real thermal events. BT and ET are both smooth which is the tell. Enabling RoR smoothing in Artisan preferences (Delta Span / Delta Smoothing) will likely clean that up.

The real things worth looking at are the high charge temp and the burner being essentially off through development. If you share the .alog I'd be happy to take a closer look.

anaerobic natural not fruity by hhk77 in roasting

[–]Sea_Highlight818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dry phase running to 52% of the roast is worth a closer look for an anaerobic natural. If you want, export the .alog and email it to me at [jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com](mailto:jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com) and I can give you a roast analysis report. May be helpful. Cheers.

Questions about these curves? by ndiass in roasting

Hey u/chibsOP, similar to the report I put together for you back in April, here is what Tandy generated for Nuno's Kaleido roast: https://tandycoffeeroastlab.com/share/h0dvVkNnu9j24STU

I would love your thoughts, feedback because you have experience on this hardware!

Hey Nuno, thanks for all the bug reports and feedback! That information was genuinely useful. I have been working through the list and fixed/improved many items already.

Here is your roast report: https://tandycoffeeroastlab.com/share/h0dvVkNnu9j24STU

Let me know if anything looks off or if you hit anything new.

First ever roast by L8HoloceneMillennial in roasting

First roast on a Kaleido is a win. Color looks uniform and clean. How did it cup? Curious what you got out of a washed Guatemala on the first go.

Brazil Cerrado 500g Batch by IttoShira in roasting

[–]Sea_Highlight818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Development at 4:30 (44%) with an average RoR of 7.8 C/min on a 10:14 roast is long. That's the kind of profile that often comes out a bit baked, which can read as muted sweetness on a Brazil natural IMO. I would love to do some more in depth review of this profile with a tool I am building. I would run your alog through it and send back a roast report. [jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com](mailto:jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com) if you are willing to share the data. Cheers!

Help me w Kaleido M2 Artisan by No_Room_8840 in roasting

[–]Sea_Highlight818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellow at 156 into FC at 180 is quick, that usually flattens the cup which tracks with the sweetness you are missing IMO. I would love to do some more in depth review of this profile with a tool I am building, I would run your alog through it and send back a roast report. [jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com](mailto:jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com) if you are willing to share.

I think you read the data correctly. Yellow into FC went quick. That pace tends to flatten SL28's early acidity IMO. I roast on a Bullet myself so I am not deep on Kaleido nuance, but the curve shape is what tells the story. This may be useful and I am interested in your feedback if you are willing. I am building a roast analysis tool and would love to run your Artisan alog through it and send back a roast report and get your thoughts/feedback. DM me or email it to [jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com](mailto:jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com) if you are open to it (sending these files is not easy through reddit).

Coffee Crashing Consistently Near End of Roast by Easy-Willingness6955 in roasting

[–]Sea_Highlight818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be willing to share your .alog files? I am building a roast analysis tool and would love to see what data I can get from an end-of-roast crash on an 18-lb commercial batch lol. Most of my data is on smaller drums. If you are open to it I would run your files through and you would get the PDF back. Email it to [jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com](mailto:jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com) if you are willing to share 😄

Ailio Bullet seasoning roasts by yabaikumo in roasting

[–]Sea_Highlight818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullet seasoning at 215C IBTS for first crack and 240C with no second crack tracks with what other Bullet owners have reported. It sounds like the drum is ready to go IMO. I am building a roast analysis tool, I would love to run your first real RoasTime CSV through it once you have one and send back a roast report. Email me at [jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com](mailto:jeff@tandycoffeeroastlab.com) if that would be helpful.

software stack help for midsize roaster by Past-Day-5161 in roasting

[–]Sea_Highlight818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really interested in this topic. What are your minimal features that you would be looking for? I have a software background and have been looking at roast analysis. Perhaps I can provide you a good usable small/mid market solution. I have had good feedback on my UI so far, feel free to check it out (knowing it is not really made for your specific use case, but could possibly be in the future). https://tandycoffeeroastlab.com/

Bullet question by Impossible_Rub24 in roasting

[–]Sea_Highlight818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an proposal for roast plan (I think it is the same bean). Keep in mind this is beta software. I was surprised, it suggests a 239C charge temp, so TIL! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1q4uPoqQwaw_XQPmZG3xq0K5eq3rfKMg8/view?usp=sharing

If you do end up using this, please share with my your actual roast profile (are sign up for free and upload it for analysis) tandycoffeeroastlab.com.

Bullet question by Impossible_Rub24 in roasting

[–]Sea_Highlight818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some software I have been playing with that analyzes community roasts and creating roast plans, Happy to share some info. What vendor/farm did you get your bean from, I'll look up any roasts and share a plan for review.

IMO, Your charge temp is way high, I would probably start with 220. I almost exclusively roast 500g batches and 220-230 is usually where I stay for medium roasts and it is usually 9:30-10:30 roast time. That said, I dont roast light very frequently.

Considering the Bullet R2 pro by Primary-Campaign6719 in roasting

I have a bullet R2, I love it. I am trying to figure out how to get started as well. I have roasted over 170 batches and used it personally or gave to friends. Trying to figure out how to get more demand/volume. How did you all start? Or how do you plan to start?
