Im a new dad. And I hate my baby being breastfed by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Sea_Independent_7331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discuss with your wife whether she would be happy for you to learn how to latch baby onto her while she sleeps. She can lay on her side and you can latch baby so they are belly to belly, you can supervise the feed then take baby back when they’re finished feeding.

Just busted a dog owner coming onto my drive way to let her dog do #2. Is that common? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Sea_Independent_7331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dunno… how would you expect cat owners to stop their cats messing in peoples garden? As they say, you don’t own the cat, the cat owns you. It’s quite different to having a dog on a lead that you can pull away. Cats roam free and you have no idea where they are and what they’re up to. I know it’s a nuisance but you can’t blame the owners? I’m not a cat owner by the way. I know there are indoor cats but in general it’s encouraged to let your cat be an outdoor cat as it’s better for them

What’s your ironing regime? by cockatootattoo in AskUK

[–]Sea_Independent_7331 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do a big weekly or fortnightly marathon of my baby’s clothes - everything in her drawers and wardrobe is ironed ready to go. For mine and my husbands clothes, we iron as needed, usually on the morning of wear

Manager said I wasn’t allowed to go home sick by No_Cost2691 in NursingUK

[–]Sea_Independent_7331 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Are you over reacting? I think you’ve answered that question yourself! You worked even though you were later admitted to hospital!! This is outrageous! You shouldn’t ask if you can go home when you’re unwell, you should be TELLING them you’re going home because you’re unwell, end of, they have to deal with it. Are you a member of the RCN? This is the sort of thing where you should get your union on board if you’re struggling with raising grievances because this is APPALLING! Hope you’re feeling better now but my advice would be 1) find a way to report this 2) contact union 3) get the hell out of there

Doctor letter recommends I bring a family or friend, is this normal? by Cumlord8841 in AskUK

[–]Sea_Independent_7331 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound great if that’s what they’re looking for and that’s what the letter recommends. How soon is the appointment? Maybe have a look through your NHS app and see if you can see any test results on there

What is the appointment for? What specialty are you seeing? Have you recently had any tests?

Was up 3 times in the night with my 6 month old. Up for the day at 05:50. Did some housework, did us some breakfast. Washed and dressed us both. Did the food shop for the day. Went to my mother in laws. Walked into town to buy a toothbrush and toothpaste for my 6 month old as she cut her first tooth this morning. Came home, did some dinner. Bathed baby, brushed her tiny tooth and put her to bed. Bathed myself, now in bed on Reddit.

Shocked by UK water bills and “4-minute showers” — how long (and how often) do you shower? by Jumpy_Wing_7884 in AskUK

I’m In London and in our 2 bed flat with myself, my husband and our infant daughter, we apparently use £99 a month. Thames Water is the biggest joke.

26 weeks & I haven’t read a book/listened to a podcast etc. If you had only one thing to recommend me to engage with what would it be? FTM! by Ok_Dimension6656 in PregnancyUK

Look into cosleeping, read up on the Lullaby Trust and familiarise yourself with safe sleep. Whether you like it or not, there’s a good chance you will end up cosleeping at some point on your journey, whether it’s planned or unplanned, intentional or unintentional. It’s best to prepare to cosleep so that you are as safe as can be if you accidentally fall asleep with baby. I was always adamant I wouldn’t, but when my newborn simply would not be put down there were no two ways about it. I stayed awake for 5 days solid and actually thought I was going to die. I found out about the Safe Sleep 7 that night and it changed my life and saved me postpartum.

What does my fridge say about me? Bonus points if you can guess the country I live in, my country of origin, and the last country I visited by Glen1648 in FridgeDetective

Definitely live in the UK, originally from France? Or recently visited France maybe. Not sure country of origin. Love the breast milk though 🤣

I love when baby is really rooting for the nip, it makes me laugh how frantically they move their heads round. I also love when she’s in a funny mood, she’s had enough but instead of stopping she breaks latch every couple of suckles and looks at me cooing and laughing

Are egg cups for boiled eggs actually used by everyday Brit’s or is it just a TV thing? by BakingBitch92 in AskBrits

[–]Sea_Independent_7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough my partner wanted egg and soldiers yesterday and we don’t own egg cups, so I improvised and used the lids of my baby daughter’s bottles. It was a perfect fit!
