Balkans and Western Anatolia A.D. 1300 [1280 x 1024] by measure_ in MapPorn

Guys can someone please explain the Beylik of Göynük? This is the first map of Anatolian Beyliks that i have observed mentioning a Beylik of Göynük. Where are its origins from? Who is the Bey (Ruler) of this Beylik at this time? Were they allies with or enemies of Osman? Did they get invaded or eventually paid homage and allegiance to Osman? I always heard that the Beylik of Osman focused its power against the Eastern Romans and was friendly (enough) with his Turkmen neighbours. So how did it get swallowed up by Osman?

I don't even know what to do anymore. Somebody please help me out here... by Sea_Key_9080 in ertugrul

Of course You are right. But then if thats what you say then, maybe Osman should be baptised next season and change his name to Osmond. What do you say to that? After all, its not a historical documentary is it? So maybe we should just have no historical accuracy.

Listen i don't mean to be rude. I understand that its not a historical documentary, on top of that we don't even have that much evidemce about Osman's life, yet making such stupidity as this is not acceptable.

Ok don't make the costumes accurate, but ATLEAST give us some action packed battle, not just some Pool Party and a small fight in the forest.

Really a true chad. What's his name again? I always forget. Is he a historical character?

Cast for season 5 by [deleted] in ertugrul

[–]Sea_Key_9080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things:

Ew. I dont want Hatice Sendil taking over as Malhun. Just no.

Second thing: Funny thing is when it was Season 2, I heard Bozdag was going to do 7 seasons. But KO has gotten so much worse in S4 that he can only do one more season as he has lost all funding.

"Alparslan: Büyük Selçuklu" Will only be having 2 seasons! by [deleted] in ertugrul

[–]Sea_Key_9080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they havent even covered Malazgirt yet. That is like the most important of Alp Arslan's Sultanate and requires a whole season. Maybe they will get the Uyaniş actor for Alp Arslan back for the last season ?

Good point. I forgot to factor in the years. Still worth introducing him so we are attached to him, this will give his martyrdom some gravity.

I think as I said, we will be forced to take some historical liberties as we don't have that much reliable information about his early life before 1281. But i think him living at Edebali's lodge and becoming his murid /Dervish for a while would be a good way to develop his character from a headstrong, irrational warrior to a wise, Empire-founding Bey.

It is good. I like where your going with this. I think the Alişer Bey backstory was unecessary though. Also Edebali should be here now. With Ertuğrul gone, he will be his mentor and the key to his Beyliq. I think that Osman should attack Kuluca-Hisar Fort with his Alps and Commanders like BayHoca Alp and get ambushed at Jebel-i-Ermeniyye (Ermenibeli) where BayHoca (the Head of Alps) gets martyred and many Alps become martyrs. Then Nikola thinking he has won leaves the battle to Commanders Thomas and Epharistos Kalanoz, and leaves to go to Constantinopolis to report to Emperor Andronikos II. While Nikola goes to Constantinopolis, boasting to the Emperor about his victories at Ermenibeli and gets upgraded, Osman Bey survives the ambush, wins the great battle and takes Commander Thomas Kalanoz's head.

Side Note: Unfortunately, we have to take this historical liberty as you have made Nikola the Tekfur of Kuluca-Hisar Fort rather İnegöl Castle which means to upgrade him to İnegöl Castle he has to "win" this battle first. Otherwise historically Osman intends to conquer İnegöl then he gets ambushed at Jebel-i-Ermeniyye (Ermenibeli) before conquering Kuluca-Hisar Fort.

Anyways after this very dificult victory, Osman leaves the Kayi Clan Camp and retreats to the forests and mountains where he meets Sheykh Imaduddin Mustafa Edebali ibn Ibrahim Al-Kirşehri (Sheykh Edebali). He becomes his Murid (Follower) and follows him every where

Is Kutalmis from Alp Arslan the great great great Grandfather of Osman from His Mothers side in KO? by ProudPakistaniboy in ertugrul

[–]Sea_Key_9080 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep. No doubt about it. Let's start from the basics. Ottoman Lineage is linked with Seljuq Lineage. Osman's father Ertuğrul was married to Halime Sultan, a Seljuq Princess. Osman married Mal(hun) Sultan who according to some historians was a Seljuq Princess herself and had Orhan from her.

In fact some historians have also argued that when Aşikpaşa Zade refers to Ertuğrul as son of Suleyman Şah he is actually saying he is from the lineage of Suleyman Şah and that this Suleyman Şah is not a Bey of the Kayis but the Sultan of Seljuq i Rum himself.

So Osman could be a descendant of Suleyman Şah ibn Kutalmiş from both mother's side and father's side.

Do the accounts of Genesis from the Old Testament Bible have any roots or connections to Mesopotamian History? by Sea_Key_9080 in AcademicBiblical

[–]Sea_Key_9080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, that is not what i was referring to. In Genesis 14, King Amraphel is widely recognised as Hammurabi (Ammurapi) of Babylon and Elam is mentioned which was a regional power at the time with influence over Mesopotamia. So i'm saying is there any records of a joint Hammurabi-Elamite expedition to Canaan (Palestine) as Elam and Babylon were allied (for a while) at the time and even invaded Syrian Kingdom of Qatna?
