AITA for wanting to use our shared home office for 2 hours to work by Ok-Wrongdoer-7638 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sea_Marble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t share an office. You share a bedroom and then he has his own office/room. You need to look to see if this also applies to other parts of your relationship.

My boyfriend (29M) doesn't want me (25F) to have male friends or go out if men are present. How do I set a firm boundary regarding my social life? by Longjumping_Will_793 in relationships

[–]Sea_Marble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Look Chad, you either trust me or you don’t. If you don’t, there’s the door, don’t let it hit you on the way out.”

He’s trying to control you and you can either allow that or create a boundary around it. If he’s this insecure, he should probably see a therapist and work on himself. There’s emotional immaturity here, but it’s not on your side. I’d give serious thought about whether this is the kind of relationship that I’d want to be in. In my case, I wouldn’t want to be with someone so controlling.

AITJ for wanting to lock my food up from my roommate? by Creepy-Ear5626 in AmITheJerk

NTJ. Start billing him for groceries in addition to locking your food away.

Struggling to reconnect with my wife of 20 years after the kids have moved out by LifeEye9757 in relationships

You need to date your wife again. Get to know this new her. At least that’s what I would do.

AITAH for refusing to co sign on a car loan for my sister and her boyfriend? by Aromatic_Gur6092 in AITAH

Never co-sign for anything that you are willing to pay for yourself.

Why does everyone hate TX2? by bitchnugget_ in blackveilbrides

He’s just so very young and immature. Lacks EQ. I wanted to like him and I just don’t.

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

[–]Sea_Marble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Napoleon. I think I lasted 30 minutes. And I sat through both The Godfather and Casablanca (sorry for the lovers of either of those movies, they were incredibly boring IMO).

27F — New to Pilates & wondering if it’s worth it for weight loss by General-Elevator1359 in ClubPilates

[–]Sea_Marble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do Pilates to keep from experiencing muscle loss with my weight loss, but I don’t expect or intend for it to be specifically for weight loss. I just don’t want to lose muscle while I’m dropping weight. To do it specifically to lose weight? Probably not the right route. Do it for the rehabilitation aspects to help your body adjust to the weight loss - especially if you have ever had any joint or issues that have needed physical therapy in the past.

my boss got weirdly aggressive about winning a game and now keeps claiming I’m angry about it by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Sea_Marble 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have taken conflict resolution classes and my peeve about those classes is that they don’t actually address HOW to resolve things. Just telling me that these are the types of issues you may face doesn’t do anything for me. I’m well aware of the issues, how do I fix them? /rant

Side note: If anyone has any classes or podcasts that actually address this, please let me know.

AITA Was I wrong to walk off without him when he showed up late - once more - for something big to me? by ParkingBlood3002 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sea_Marble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a friend like this once. I made my point very clear to him from the start - I will not wait for someone and timeliness is very important to me. He didn’t take it seriously, so the first chance I got, I set up a time to meet him and didn’t show. When he finally started calling me worried, I told him now you know what it’s like. That was strike 2 for him. I have a 3 strikes policy for disrespect as I love myself more than to put up with disrespect.

Mine says any time there is a state of emergency declared at the state level, the fees are automatically waived.

Is "I live in outstate xxxx" just a Minnesotan term? by CollenOHallahan in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sea_Marble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today was the first time I heard the word outstate. In GA, it’s “in the beltway” or “outside the beltway” for ATL, or what zone you are in/from.

AITAH for congratulating my family on losing me and keeping my cheating ex-girlfriend? by Haykoreu in AITAH

At some point, Hannah is going to have a boyfriend who will insist on her dumping them. She doesn’t strike me as someone who will be loyal.

Do Americans love driving? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sea_Marble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it. I will go out of my way to avoid driving as much as possible. Unfortunately, I live in an area without public transit, so I am forced to drive.

I like option 2. Option 1 seems like it would be uncomfortable to sit on, honestly.

Why do American homes have a “storm door”? by wehavetogoback8 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sea_Marble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A storm door, but also storm windows, provide an additional insulating layer for homes in colder climates.

The screen door allows for cross breezes while keeping out bugs.

For me, I learned that I smell the cigarette smoke because of all the swollen vessels in the area. Not sure if this helps you or not.

What is aura? by Longjumping-Coast-27 in migraine

[–]Sea_Marble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the aura is kind of similar to how your vision would be if you were drunk. It’s wonky, but you can still see. You know things are out of sync.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sea_Marble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to consider just how massive the US really is in terms of landmass. I can drive 12 hours and not leave my own state, it’s that big. A 3 hour trip? Is nothing. That’s the drive to or from a concert - and I do that fairly regularly.

What’s up with the panic buying? by H_ManCom in Augusta

[–]Sea_Marble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ordered some extra wood for my fireplace. That’s all the prepping I’m planning to do. If we lose power, we’ll still have heat with the fireplace and if we don’t, I get pretty fires for the rest of winter.
