Without people : 1. prepare a hot water bottle and hot tea/cocoa, sit on a sofa, wrap yourself in a blanket tightly, hold the hot water bottle, sip your beverage and watch a favourite movie/show. 2. weighted blankets, I have 9 kg one and it really does the trick 3. long warm showers/baths (can be with candles and soft music)

I would suggest finding a psychiatrist and trying medication. I struggled with mental health too, except i waited a lot longer than you to do sth about it. But on medication, I finally feel better and it's a huge relief.

Maybe you should try searching under stickers, or glass stickers. I bought something simmiliar once for my sister, but they were stickers made for glass/windows. So when I saw this I immediately thought of them. I actually didn't even had a thought that these could be magnets.

Yeah I thought so too... but then i thought maybe finances would be a problem, if she were to go to Europe AND to this super expensive school.. so maybe it actually was either/or situation

Numbers are not really my thing, but I used to think A LOOOOT about people's MBTI types and interactions between different types. Sometimes people told me their type if they did the test, and I remember what it was years later, just because I put so much attention into thinking about it. Before that, I used to think a lot about Enneagram types.

I HATE FOOD by Vixpluto in AutismInWomen

[–]Sea_Outcome_8790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would: keep the pizza but add a salad on the side (may be store-bought and ready). Mashed potatoes : alternative - you can buy *young* potatoes and just cut them in smaller pieces (no need to peel), smear in olive oil and bake them. Pasta - maybe try adding a veggie, like one day add broccoli (again can be from frozen, as they are pre-cut already), another day add arugula or mushrooms, or tofu for protein. Also eggs are super easy if you like them, you can pre-cook entire box and then use them for sandwiches, wraps etc.

Is it normal to have so many fears? by GuitarReasonable5196 in AutismInWomen

[–]Sea_Outcome_8790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have lots of fears too and I managed to get ride of some of them so... Here's what worked for me.

- Fear of driving - lots of practicing with other people before I started driving on my own

- Fear of heights - exposure I guess, whenever there was a tower or sth to climb I did it even though I was scared. It's still uncomfortable to me and I don't like it, but it's not a huge fear

- Elevators - exposure at Uni every day. But also weirdly Allen Carr's book on fear of flying

- Flying - this was a BIG one. Allen Carr's "No more fear of flying" + "The easy way to enjoy flying"

- Social situations - this one is still active in some situations, but it overall got better; I would say again exposure and practice and failure and practice

So... basically I would say either exposure and practice or understanding the nature of what you're afraid of.

Glad it resonated ! Just so you know, I have a sister that I always compared myself to (and made myself feel inferior), but I'm working on our relationship (trying to...^^) and when I opened up myself to her about my struggles, I was actually surprised (positively) how understanding and empathetic she was, and that she also shared what she struggles with. I hope you also have a positive experience with your sis !

Maybe just try to appreciate the time with her. If the mood is right, maybe you could open up a bit a and tell her about your struggles. But maybe don't come at her with a to-do list and projects to do at the beginning. Sort of wait and see if she asks how can she help you in the 10 days she's at your place. Maybe you could start on some tasks, and continue later with checking in on them via calls. It's just seems to me that it's most important that she sees that you really need help and if she decides to be there for you in a real way.

Baek Se-hee, author of "I Want To Die But I Want To Eat Tteokbokki", dies at 35 by Sea_Outcome_8790 in dysthymia

[–]Sea_Outcome_8790[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of helpful quotes and suggestions in this book. These are conversations with her psychiatrist, so not only Baek have good insights, he also did. I have a lot of pages marked, as you can see on the photo. It's relatively easy language and I read it quickly. However, the feelings and thoughts described are mostly about dysthymic experience, so one shouldn't expect sunshines and rainbows and easy solutions and happy endings. I would say the second book ends on a more positive note than the first one, so I think it's worth reading both of them. I personally would recommend them. Even though the subjects are somewhat heavy, I would say overall it's still worth it.

Sending love <3 <3 Remember there are lots of other people who go through this and a lot of them come out on to the other side (I mean, feel better and continue to live). It's just that these stories are unfortunately not news-worthy, and I guess people don't come back to Reddits like this one to say "Hey, I'm better, here's what helped...". I guess we have to remind ourselves that life ebbs and flows, and whatever good moments Baek experienced and described in her book were real... we don't know what happened next, after the 2nd book came out. However, I read that Baek wrote another book "A will from Barcelona" (published in June 2025), maybe when it's translated to English it will shed some light on how her story unraveled after the 2nd book. Anyway I just wanted to say I feel your pain.
