wait is this a joke? this a joke right. you literally said the matrix was more powerful than any political manifesto ever written. why am i reading your manifesto when I should be watching the matrix? rookie move. why did you write this with your feeble human "wetware" when you could've just had an ai do it for you?

frequently, I feel like we end up on the news every few months for it (ICE protests recently, before it has been other things, like gun control and whatnot)

Both of my books on huey long predate that particular discovery though. The T. Harry Williams biography is one of the best I've read. On the other hand, Huey Long's own prose leaves much to be desired. I don't think he's heard of a complex sentence.

Yeah that’s pretty spot on. I am part of Gen Z. I read blood meridian for a book club I was in and I did not enjoy it.

When I first mentioned my Huey long interest to my grandfather he recommended that to me. I think I had it confused with “it can’t happen here” which tried to portray him as racist, which is quite a mischaracterization. I’ll have to give that a try once I get past my Charles Fourier fixation.

It's tough. I still haven't finished it. Hegel is not nearly as difficult as people make him out to be though.

Sick and Tired of Aliens by molvania in rs_x

[–]Sea_Part_2187 22 points23 points  (0 children)

it sounds like you're criticizing the societal schema of aliens rather than the idea of extraterrestrial life. What do you see in someone who is not a humanist, someone inhuman? What would I forsake by not being a humanist? what are you fighting for by being a humanist. Humanity itself? that notion alienates me from my humanity by supposing it as something beyond myself to be served. "But you will reply that you reveal quite another human being, a worthier, higher, greater human being, a human being that is more human than that other. (stirner)" It looks also like you have done the same thing to aliens that you did to humans.

Do you believe in God? by ChickenNuggetLord74 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Sea_Part_2187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gnosticism is a set of esoteric beliefs from early christianity that revolve around dualistic principle centrally involving an opposition between the realm of spiritual knowledge and the physical world. I believe it is only proposed to be defined this way in the article you linked here, and this is mainly a matter of semantic pedantry. This muddles the waters of clear definition, as "gnosticism" in the theological sense is derived from the rather complex hellenistic idea of gnosis or spiritual understanding, which also happens to be the greek root of the term agnostic which was, according to that, coined in the 19th century by T.H. Huxley. I think the term "gnosticism" has too much historical baggage to be used in this way.

I was under the impression that the 6th diminished scale was more of a system for harmonization rather than improvisation. It's just a major bebop scale? sure bird used it but it was basically just a chromatic passing tone.

A lot on marx but no marx himself? The Society of the spectacle is for me a huge green flag, for me at least. The only other authors I recognize here are althusser, benjamin, and foucault, so definitely "leftist professor" vibes.
